Friday's Fancies + Have a Spooky Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

Happy Friday, my lovely readers!  I've been eager for Friday's arrival due in part to my fun plans for the evening.  I'm going to a haunted house and I am pumped! It's been awhile, so I had better prepare myself for the worst, right?!

This week's Friday's Fancies is centered around the most fabulous pair of booties I ever did see.  Rachel Comey gets me every single time.  It's obvious, I know.

So what have you planned for this last day of September/first few days of October?  Aside from getting the bejeebus scared out of me tonight, we're planning on painting (oh joy), baking and cooking a family feast.  Here's hoping it's delicious!

Whatever you get up to, I hope it's fabulous! xoxo

Thursday's Randoms

I've totally got Halloween spirit this year, thanks to the ability to really decorate.  I've already hung decorations  on the mantle and I can't wait to start scouring my options for the front porch.  I just need an endless supply of pumpkins so I can make these fanged guys.  They're too funny to not!

My goodness, I love this.

This coat rack is nothing short of awesome.  Isn't it amazing how something so abundant (or maybe not so these days) and natural could be transformed into something so extraordinary?

Sigh.  I want to go to there.  And stay.  For like, ever.  How do I make this happen?  It's so beautiful.

Well, it's official.  I've found a new coat to lust after this year.

Nan Lawson's mountain man has me in stitches.  I love every last bit of it - including that patch of chest hair peeking through!  So detailed!  I love her stuff, and every time I lay in bed I look over and see our portrait and smile.  She is too good, that Nan.

What's got you inspired today?

Fall is for Knitting

I've recently been working on a project that has me so excited for cold nights.  I've been going through yarn faster than ever and each and every stitch gets me more and more eager to finish.  But after I finish, I know I'll want to start another project.  I'm just not sure what.

Thank goodness for the internet ::

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

Mayhaps I'll knit a blanket with bold blocks of color.  Or intricately knit the most adorable booties in existence.  Or perhaps I'll finally knit my main squeeze a manly gray cap (I've knit hats, I just never have for him.  Poor thing) or really get into the Halloween spirit (too late) and knit up a witch!

Hope the weather is treating you nicely wherever you are - our weather is fall at its finest right now :)

Art Muse, Meet Fashion Muse

When I first saw this image on Pinterest via {wit + delight} via artmuse.com, I was in love.  I knew countless amounts of creativity would spark from the image alone...and lo and behold, a swoon-worthy outfit was born ::

Fashion Muse

I for one adore the colors in the painting and love how they work so well together in the outfit.  The peep of mustard makes a fun pop of color, especially when used in a place that the eye normally does not draw.  The shade is so subtle in the painting and I love it.  Now if only I could get my hands on a pair of those cable knit socks, my fall wardrobe would be all set...or something like that.

Any color palettes inspiring you lately?  I'd love to hear...

Weekend Recap

The first weekend of fall was a great one.  The air was crisp, I baked, I bought mums and had some candy corn.  It pretty much ruled.  Some highlights include ::

  • Seeing Raegan dressed up for the Head Accessory Party.  Who knew a painted on cat face could look so creepy? Who knew she could look so amazing with a drawn-on trucker 'stache?  Good times.
  • The return of the mister!
  • Margharita pizza!
  • Nulu Fest - listening to The Broken Spurs play while hanging out with a friend we haven't seen in ages (we're obviously a proud supporter of Billy)
  • Weekend projects tackled.  Solar lights in front of the house? Check.  Autumn flowers on the porch? Check.  Paint for the hallway/entryway bought? Check.  Paint for the kitchen bought? Check.  Sanding + painting kitchen chairs? Check.  Check, check, check.
  • R-E-L-A-X-I-N-G.  Double check.

How were your weekends? As good as always, I hope.  Here's to an enjoyable autumn week ahead!

Friday's Fancies + Have a Cozy Weekend!

Friday's Fall Fancies

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

Happy Friday, friends! I'm so excited it's finally Friday - the mister comes home (late) tonight!  It's just not the same around here without him, even if the cat gets extra snuggly.  It also means it's time for another much needed weekend, spent laying around in our pajamas drinking coffee and enjoying each other's company, hanging out with friends and toasting a couple glasses of <insert adult beverage> to the arrival of my favorite season.

I love Autumn whole-heartedly.  The only thing I wish were different about this beautiful season is that a) winter did not follow and b) the time change did not happen.  I hate when its dark out in the 5 o'clock hour.

What have you in store this weekend?  We don't have any definite plans other than to watch that Bears v Packers game (oi).  I want to do some more decorating (especially for fall) and I hope that tomorrow we could possibly finally hopefully get around to brewing our own beer.  We've only been talking about it for nearly a year now...

It's been a gray, rainy morning here in Louisville.  So I thought what better way to ring in Friday's Fall Fancies than by pairing a cozy sweater with some beloved Hunter rain boots.  It's a classic look, one that I love to sport time and again and one that is perfectly suited for today's weather.  I think I just might have to bake something today in honor of fall and the chilly temps and soak it all in.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's a great one!  Til Monday...

So much color! So much pretty, vibrant color! I could stare for days upon days.  Via

Mr. Gosling was in my dream last night.  We were friends and he was dating a girl I had been hanging out with.  I was all set to perform a song for a large crowd of people I knew from all the different stages of my life.  I had practiced, practiced, practiced.  I didn't have a dress to wear at the last minute, so I fashioned a maxi dress out of a yellow shower curtain I have.  Anyway, I went out on stage to perform the song but at the last minute "they" (I don't know if I ever knew who "they" were) changed the accompanying music to piano and the pianist played an entirely different song than what was planned.  I was humiliated in front of Ryan Gosling and everyone else I had ever met because I didn't know the song and I do believe I woke myself up with tears in my eyes!  No good!  Via

Can someone please do my manicure like this?  It's so amazing!  And kind of looks like candy - so of course I love it.

Isn't this so lovely? Los Angeles artist Myan captured this Los Olivos vineyard in the morning in just the right way.  I am captivated by the rich colors - I'm also naturally drawn to anything that has anything to do with vineyards.  Via

My friend Hadley introduced me to The Flourishing Foodie and I haven't been able to stop drooling ever since.  These carmelized apricots with goat cheese and pistachios sound like the perfect bite of heaven.  Not to mention, they're apparently classy - class x 10.  I love it!

Last...hello, gorgeous!  I've been eyeing this ring from Angela Monaco for awhile now.  It's just so pretty!  And fun!  And feminine, yet so tough.

What's inspiring you this week?

Mo-jave, Please

I simply CAN'T.  GET.  ENOUGH!  I'm loving all things mojave/southwestern/navajo these days and I hope you do too (at least somewhat, enough to tolerate it, you know? Cause I love you all and love that you keep coming back day after day!)

How are your weeks going?  Mine has been busy and tonight I dropped the mister off at the airport for another business trip.  Harumph.  But tonight (as in Wednesday) I have fun times planned with awesome people, so we're all good.

Triangle Love

Over the last few years, I've become fascinated with all things triangle.  I know several of you have this affliction/obsession as well.  What is it about these three-sided geometric shapes that has my heart all aflutter whenever I see a pattern arise? I might not ever know, but I do know that it's images like these that make me totally understand why I'm obsessed.  I need this image around to inspire me to be creative on a daily basis.  I need it to help me get dressed in the morning or to help me decorate our home.  I just...need it.  Don't you?  See? It inspires creativity where you might least expect it...

Mayhaps I'd wear this outfit regardless of that image.  But I do know that these colors, those shapes...they do me something good.  What's inspiring you?

Weekend Recap + A Winner!

The weekends fly by so fast, and I know I can only chalk it up to having fun.  The weather was incredible, we caught up on our sleep and thoroughly enjoyed the early days of fall (yeah, yeah, fall doesn't start until a few days from now but it feels like fall).  Some highlights include ::

  • Family hangin'.  Despite the current difficulties drivers are facing between Kentucky and Indiana, we made it and it was worth it.  Chili, baggo, beer.  Repeat.
  • Loungin'
  • DRIVE-IN!!!  It was every bit as awesomely nostalgic as I had hoped.  We saw Contagion - I've been thinking of it non-stop and thoroughly washing my hands.  We also stayed for Horrible Bosses, which was hilarious (seriously, why would you not stay around for the double feature?!).  We set up camp, wrapped up in blankets and pigged out on candy.  Perfection.
  • Pajama Sunday, oh yes.
  • Family hangin'.  Again, despite current difficulties drivers are facing between Kentucky and Indiana, we made it and it was worth it.  Halibut, birthday cake, wine.  Repeat.  Not really with that repeat...

So what did you guys get up to this weekend?  Something fun I hope.  And did you watch the Emmy's?

Lastly...

We have a winner!  Random.org selected #50, Cathy from Fiscally Chic - congratulations! Thanks for playing, everyone! And a HUGE thanks again to Chelsea of a lovely, little shop. You are the sweetest!

Game Day Fancies

Game Day Fancies by meaganpie featuring lace up booties

This week's Friday's Fancies theme is centered around game day.  With both college and pro football under way I figured I'd join in the fun and show my Bears spirit!  Last week's game was incredibly exciting (I had no faith that they were going to do well this year but I was proven wrong last Sunday, we'll see if that lasts...) and I'm very curious to see how they'll fare against the Saints on their home turf.  Go Bears!

What are you all up to this weekend?  We have some exciting things in store.  The Drive-In is calling our name and I could not be more thrilled about it!  I haven't been to a drive-in in eons even though I've been yearning to for years now.  Contagion and Horrible Bosses are playing back-to-back, so why not!  We're also celebrating a birthday again with a fun family dinner and hopefully we can journey to Bardstown, KY for the annual bourbon festival to make the hubs a happy man.  Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's amazing!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway!  You have until Sunday at 10 p.m. est.

This bedroom has left me completely inspired.  There's something about the colors in here, the softness of it and that little pop of red.  It just leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy and I want to model our bedroom around it completely.  Luckily so does the hubs, so I think this may happen!

I've been laughing pretty hard over this one.  People are so creative - and I love a good pun, especially when paired with amazing illustration.   Via Paper Parasol

These Rachel Comey shoes (spotted during fashion week) have completely stolen my heart.   I want them.  Bad. Via Refinery 29

Today's weather has me all kinds of excited about this photo.  We don't have our fireplace ready to go but clearly we need to get on top of that.  I mean, it's 48 degrees outside and 65 in here! Is it too soon to have a fire inside?!  Thanks to Martha, I want to.

I am also really wishing I could eat a slice of this strawberry dream cake right about now.  It sounds so refreshing and delicious and it looks very pretty.

Last, these simple yet bold earrings from Kim Dulaney would make a perfect addition to my jewelry collection, don't you think?  I mean, they would go with practically everything in my wardrobe!

What has your heart today? And thank you so much for sticking with me this week.  Clearly, I've got today off.  It's tough not being at a computer to pay attention to this blog throughout the day, and once I adjust to my new schedule you'll be hearing mofe from me.  All I can say though is "what a week!" and by that it really means, "what a week of change!".

Be sure to enter the giveaway!  You have until Sunday night at 10 pm eastern to enter.  Good luck!

P.S. - sorry for the radio silence from me.  This new job is by every means a new job.  I don't know anything about the work but I'm enjoying the learning process so far. But it's left me completely exhausted the past two nights. The coolest part about it all is that I get to wear scrub-a-dub-dubs! Goodbye, business casual attire! Hopefully I'll be able to make it around to all of your awesome blogs this week but I apologize in advance for it.  Please don't take it personal :)
