Sweet Blog Award

Recently, Beth over at Deer Little Fawn, awarded me with the Sweet Blog Award.  Thank you, Beth!  When you win this award, you're supposed to share 4 guilty pleasures with everyone and also pass the award along.  So here goes...

  • I'm a candy fiend.  I always have been and probably always will be.

  • Trips to Target.  Some people love it, some people loathe it.  My husband being the latter, although I think he might secretly enjoy it.  I say that because when we go together, we usually take a stroll through the men's section and he usually picks up at least a t-shirt or two.  We/I always walk out of there having spent way too much money though.

  • Shopping for candles.  Because there's nothing better than lighting up a fresh candle with a unique scent.  My favorites always come from Anthropologie and I especially love the ones with woodsy scents.
  • Watching SNL.  Even when people said it totally sucked, I still watched it.  I love staying in on Saturday nights and watching it, but we also dvr it to watch at our leisure.  I've been listening to The Sound of Young America and Bill Hader was on the last podcast...God, I love Stefan.

So there you have it...some guilty pleasures that aren't all that embarrassing, right?  Right.

So now it's time to pass the award along, and it's really hard to do.  But since I have to narrow it down, here they are ::

Thanks again, Beth!

An Award!

Thanks so much to Natalie from a little blue notebook for giving me this award ::

If you haven't met Natalie yet, please do so at once.  I immediately fell for her daily posts with all of their charms and adorableness.  She has great style and after every visit I am left with a thirst for more posts!

Here are the rules of the award::

1. Thank the person that gave it to you
2. Share seven facts about yourself
3. Choose seven blogs you love to receive the award, and be sure to let those bloggers know you gave them the award!

Seven random facts about me ::

1. My glasses/contacts prescription is -9.0.  I look like a freak in my glasses and whenever I have some contest like "my eyes are so bad, I'm blind" with other people, I always win.
2. I used to smoke, I hate to admit it but I did.  But then one day I decided I was done with it and quit cold turkey.  I loathe cigarettes now.  It's been several years now too!
3. When I was a little girl, I had my own set of golf clubs.
4. While using said golf clubs with my dad and brother one day, my dad let my brother drive the golf cart to the next hole while he walked behind us.  My brother promptly put the petal to the metal, turned unexpectedly and I went flying out the side.  T-r-a-u-m-a-t-i-c.
5. I went to the dentist for the first time in 5 years last week.  I know you're thinking, eww, I'm disgusting.  But I have "great hygiene" and only one cavity which has already been filled.
6. I had my first school solo in 7th grade.  I sang part of "Colors of the Wind" and I remember it so clearly.  The next year,  I was told that the kids in that music class had to watch my video to learn how to sing.  He he!
7. Since I've recently learned how to knit, I have the itch to learn so much more like weaving and stuff.  I want to get good and be able to sell things.  I seriously have some pretty good will power when it comes to certain stuff so I hope I stick with it.

So without further ado, here are the seven blogs I feel deserve this award (not an easy task) ::

1. Kristen from Just when you thought...her photos are really fantastic and her posts are very inspiring.  She's seems like such a good person.
2. Heather at La Feem.  Her blog is utterly stylish, enough said.
3. Michelle at Michelle Hartney.  Not only are her paintings/prints/charms/etc. amazing, but she is a few months pregnant now and her weekly belly posts are so freaking cute.  She is one stylin' mama-to-be!
4. Tiffany at Holiday.  Tiffany's blog inspired me to have my blog banner made by Caitlin at Lark and I'm so glad I stumbled upon it.  I love visiting her blog every day and reading about her little girl, Stella, her crazy pumpkin decorating competitions and all of the things that interest her or are going on in her life.  She is a terrific woman and I'm glad to have "met" her.
5. Stephanie at Bird on a Wire.  She has some really great taste, I tell you.  Her gift guides are pretty great, she's inspired me to make some crafts and always finds the best stuff on Etsy.
6. Alivia at Alivia Thinks This.  She also has great photos of her everyday life and also leaves me inspired.
7. Last but not least, Megan at Pink o'clock.  Another great girl with great taste.  She choose drool-worthy images for her well-written posts and I look forward to new content every day.

Happy Tuesday!  Thanks again, Natalie!

The Versatile Blogger Award

Hooray for awards!  Sarah B. of Sarah B. Says Hello recently awarded Mo Pie, Please with this lovely award and well, we're honored!

The Award Rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you this award.
2. Share seven things about yourself.
3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you've recently discovered and think are awesome (and be sure to let them know).

15 bloggers is a lot for right now considering I'm still on Pacific time (or as I like to say to the kids, specific time) and transitioning to life after a two-week vacation, so I'm only going to do a few like Sarah did.  So here goes:

My 7 facts:
1.  I am missing many teeth.  The baby teeth were all there but the adult teeth are somewhere in space I guess.  So I had surgery in 7th grade (during spring break, thanks mom) to move my canines closer to not have a gap next to my front teeth.  Some people find it charming (like my husband).  And, my father-in-law is an orthodontist.  Hah!

2.  I was the editor of my high school yearbook for two years.  Only seniors are technically allowed to be editor but I was both my junior and senior year.  I guess because I rule!

3.  I had my picture taken with Miss Universe when my dad took me to the Miss USA pageant when I was 8.  Had I not been wearing my coat, it would have been in the Wichita newspaper...

4.  I eat candy like I'm a kid, and I'm totally ok with that.

5.  I have never mowed a yard!  My mom and brother used to fight over it growing up, they both loved it so much.  And I've been a renter ever since I moved out, so...

6.  I have been kicked out of a strip club before.  The Outhouse outside of Lawrence, KS.  I was caught drinking and I was only 20.  But come on, I was one of about three girls in the whole club and clearly I was talked into it by a bunch of dudes.  I didn't want to be there.  But I think it's funny to say I've been kicked out of a strip club.

7.  My dad was an architect and a good one at that.  We got to live in a giant house where all the rich doctors lived in Wichita that he designed.  No one had bought it so we lived there for 2 years until it sold.  It had secret passageways in my brother & I's bedrooms!  If he was around today, I know he'd be designing the sweetest buildings ever.

MY NOMINATIONS:
Here are five blogs that I discovered recently (by random chance or because of a comment left here) that deserve more love.

1. Acquainted With the Night
2. The Lazy Designer
3. Calm Canary
4. Concerning: Pancakes
5. Quindome Eats Cake
