Happy 4th of July

Hope you're enjoying yourselves today.  We're not really in the celebratory mood considering the dreary, wet weather we're having today.  We had big plans today.  Big.  Sadly, they're ruined by the all-day rain, so no pool lounging/sun bathing day for us.  Too bad, because I even got Wyatt a swim top to go with his swim diaper (so that I could basically dip him in the water because I'm too afraid to do much more!) and he's got a hat and sunglasses to boot.  We'll make it there some day, right?  It seems every single time we've tried to enjoy a pool day this summer the following has happened::

  • The world's worst traffic jam kept us on the highway for 2 hours, thus making us arrive to the party after everyone was done and over it and just in time for dinner.
  • Rain
  • Rain
  • Rain
We've made it in all of one time.  While my husband was actually "working poolside" so it wasn't really the best time ever.  Wyatt's legs were dipped in.  Then he napped the rest of the time we were there.

So needless to say, I hope everyone else is enjoying beautiful weather, great company and delicious food :)

I think now it's time to booze!

Friday's Fancies + Have a Cozy Weekend!

Friday's Fall Fancies

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

Happy Friday, friends! I'm so excited it's finally Friday - the mister comes home (late) tonight!  It's just not the same around here without him, even if the cat gets extra snuggly.  It also means it's time for another much needed weekend, spent laying around in our pajamas drinking coffee and enjoying each other's company, hanging out with friends and toasting a couple glasses of <insert adult beverage> to the arrival of my favorite season.

I love Autumn whole-heartedly.  The only thing I wish were different about this beautiful season is that a) winter did not follow and b) the time change did not happen.  I hate when its dark out in the 5 o'clock hour.

What have you in store this weekend?  We don't have any definite plans other than to watch that Bears v Packers game (oi).  I want to do some more decorating (especially for fall) and I hope that tomorrow we could possibly finally hopefully get around to brewing our own beer.  We've only been talking about it for nearly a year now...

It's been a gray, rainy morning here in Louisville.  So I thought what better way to ring in Friday's Fall Fancies than by pairing a cozy sweater with some beloved Hunter rain boots.  It's a classic look, one that I love to sport time and again and one that is perfectly suited for today's weather.  I think I just might have to bake something today in honor of fall and the chilly temps and soak it all in.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's a great one!  Til Monday...

Dreaming in color :: Aquamarine

Today is a dark, rainy day - the kind that makes you infinitely tired and unable to motivate yourself to do much of anything.  So I thought, a little dose of serenity wouldn't hurt today, right?  This shade of blue, this dreamy/peaceful/calm shade, is exactly the color I need to be staring at right now.  It elevates my dreary mood.  Does it have that effect on you?  I hope the weather is better where you are!

Rainy Day Blues

I've got 'em.  I love rainy days but mainly when I get to stay at home.  I hate coming downtown when it's raining, and today's weather is just plain confusing.  It's been consistently nice out, meaning no jacket, for weeks now.  But today it's only 63 and it's pouring down rain and I'm wearing a sweater?  Nope, not cool.  So I'm just going to stare at these terrariums to make me feel a touch better, and maybe do some honeymoon research to lift my dampened (har) spirits.  If only I could nap....

These are pretty cool, but the price is not.  Anybody know of a place to get rad-shaped orbs for cheap?

Another rainy day

It's been chilly and rainy here in Chicago for the last umpteen days.  I love rain and thunderstorms but I really could use a sunny and warm day.  Like, stat.

But there are some things to look forward to:

1. I am leaving work an hour early today (huzzah!)

2. I am leaving work an hour early today because I have an appointment at a fancy spa to get a fancy massage that I paid only $40 for via Groupon back in February.  I have so many knots in my shoulder/neck from who konws what and no matter how much stretching I do in a day it hurts like hell all the time.  So this massage is absolutely necessary.  Hooray!

3. Tonight we get to have some drinks with Ann Badger, my bridesmaid and soon to be sister-in-law, whom I love dearly but rarely get to see.

4.  Tomorrow is Friday.

5. The high is supposed to be 73!  That's 20 degrees warmer than yesterday...
