Have a Fantastic Weekend!

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm so relieved it's here because I could really use some rest and relaxation.  Sadly, I don't think that's on the agenda, but perhaps I could squeeze some in there unexpectedly.  We've made progress on our tile project, all of our tile has come in (including the specialty/decorative pieces) and we've done all the primer jobs we could do.  I expect big progress this weekend. Just don't hold us to it!  I do believe we have a family pool gathering on Sunday afternoon so I'm hoping to get the chance to share Wyatt with everyone and enjoy myself.  What plans do you have this weekend? Please do share!

Happy weekend - enjoy yourselves!

Happy Weekend!

{my Valentine's flowers, I love them}

Happy Friday, friends! I'm sorry for my absence this week.  Between work, doctors appointments and our expected company this weekend, I've been a little busy.  But I wanted to drop in and wish you all a happy weekend!

Tomorrow is my baby shower and I've been looking forward to it for so long now.  My sister-in-law has been planning it and I know that no matter what, it's going to be incredible.  Because of the shower, we have 6 troopers driving in from Kansas just for the occasion.  I'm so excited to see all of my loved ones and to have everyone reunite to honor the sweet little boy who is soon to make his grand entrance to the world.

So many wonderful things have happened or are happening this week.  Some close friends of ours welcomed their baby girl to the world yesterday, my favorite peanut turned 2, my best friend is due any second now and my coworker got engaged this morning!  Let's hope the remainder of the week is filled with excitement and joy.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's fantastic!

Friday's Fancies + Have a Terrific Weekend!

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm particularly pumped that the weekend is here, not for any reason in specific but just the fact that I am ready for it.  It's been a long week and my energy levels have depleted.  Nothing but a home cooked meal is on the agenda for tonight and tomorrow is likely to bring a basement project to life that will help us clear out some unnecessary furniture from the nursery.  Luckily for said project, all I have to do is help hold some boards together for nailing.  Hopefully.  Other than that, I plan to watch some college basketball, celebrate the first birthday of a special little lady and definitely, most definitely, do a lot of resting.

For this week's Friday's Fancies, I've put together a dreamy ensemble that I wish I could sport.  I can round up a similar version I suppose but it just won't be the same.  In due time, right?!

What are you up to this weekend? Something wonderful, I hope!  Whatever it is you do, I hope you have a terrific time.

Friday's Fancies + Have an Enjoyable Weekend!

Happy Friday + Long Weekend, everyone!  The holiday is finally upon us and I'm sure many of you are hightailing it out of town for a weekend of fun aplenty.  While I have no big plans for the weekend, I'm so excited for the extra day off to catch up on life.  I'm anxious to spend some time cooped up with Stevie and Gus, reading a book and listening the rain we're expecting.  Sounds pretty nice, right?  Husband is off having a guys trip with his dad and grandpa (pretty cute, right?) down at the lake so it's just us ladies (and chief!) to hold down the fort.  What exciting plans do you have?

This week's Friday's Fancies is a true representative of what I'd love to be wearing all weekend long.  Comfort + style all in one!  If it weren't the end of summer I might consider purchasing both the dress and the sandals - I can't stop staring at that bright pop of yellow!  What is your ideal Labor Day look? I'd love to hear!

Here's to a fantastic long weekend, my friends! Safe travels to those of you with awesome adventures scheduled and all of you be safe and try to stay dry!  xoxo

Friday's Fancies + Have an Adventurous Weekend!

Happy Friday!  I'm so pumped it's the weekend even though I have no clue what will become of it.  As of now, our only plans are tentative and they may or may not involve a house project and a trip to the pool.  I'd prefer to include a picnic with champagne and cheese, some berry picking and an adventure like this.

Friday's Fancies for the week is dedicated to weddings, but since I haven't done a non-themed post in awhile and I have no wedding to attend until the fall, I chose to center my look around the drool-worthy dress that so many of us love.  Can it please be mine?!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's wonderful and summery (or wintery if that's your destiny).  Until Monday...

Friday's Fancies + Have a Restful Weekend

Friday's Fancies

Happy Friday, friends! I wish I was a little happier today, but the mister's sickness has seemed to travel my way. I woke up today with a dry, sore throat and I plan to nurse it all day long with soothing liquids and lots of rest.

In a perfect world, we would both be happy, be going out for some sort of date tonight and I'd be wearing this.  Wouldn't it be wonderful?  That is why I love Friday's Fancies - always the perfect opportunity to dream up something wonderful.  This week, it's all about color crushing.  I'll be the first to admit, I have (and always will) been crushing pretty hard on the color combination of coral + turquoise.  This outfit has just the right amount of color combo without looking too matchy matchy.  I really have been coveting some white denim (as you may have noticed this week) and I really love the summery, breezy feel of this ensemble.

What are you getting up to this weekend?  Stevie is supposed to start obedience school tomorrow and we're celebrating mother's day on Sunday with my mother-in-law.  Other than that, I'm sure you'd be able to find us lounging on our couch, in our pj's, with hot toddies in hand.  Sigh.

Have a great weekend, everyone!  Hopefully it's better than ours :)

Friday's Fancies + Have a spring-in-your-step kind of weekend!

Friday's Fancies

Happy Friday, everyone!  We made it!  For me, the week actually kind of flew by quickly, which is always a good thing.  I'm sure the weekend will fly by even quicker though.  What are you all up to this weekend?  We really don't have any plans, so we'll see where the freedom takes us.  The weather is supposed to be so-so, but I'm hoping for sunshine and some outdoor time if possible.

The Friday's Fancies theme this week is about date night, whether it be with your significant other, a group of friends or a night out on the town with your family.  I'd love to be able to wear this Malene Birger blouse, with great colors and a fun print - I'm pretty sure it would be flattering for many people, don't you?  I imagine going out to a lovely dinner, followed by an evening spent laughing with a bottle of wine or delicious cocktails.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's nothing short of awesome!  'Til Monday...

Friday's Fancies + Have a Relaxing Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Well friends, I am so relieved to know it's Friday.  This week has been...weird, and I am glad for it to be over.  I can't wait to relax this weekend, break in our new grill with some friends, maybe watch some fireworks and possibly even plant some flowers.  What do you have planned?

One of the things I would love to add to my weekend is a picnic.  With the weather being as nice as it's been the last month or so, it's the perfect opportunity to do so day after day.  So what is stopping me? I even have an adorable picnic basket from a lovely friend, complete with the perfect plaid blanket to sit on.  I would pack champagne, cheeses, bread.  I would bring cards to play and a book to read.  And I would most definitely try to wear something like today's Friday's Fancies, that is for sure.

Whether you're attending a picnic or not, I hope your weekend is wonderful! Until Monday...

Friday's Fancies

Happy Friday, everyone! Aren't you glad it's here?!  I'm really into this week's Friday's Fancies' theme....pastels! I love spring time and the fact that these colors pop up all over the place.  And if I could, I would wear this outfit nonstop.  I know it's kind of taken right out of the J.Crew catalogue, yet it has a little bit of my own touch to it.  I really need to get a pair of coral jeans like those.  I have been lusting after them forever now, it seems.

So what are you all up to this weekend?  I'm not entirely sure where the weekend is taking us.  I do know that we'll be going to brunch at the Village Anchor this Sunday (hello, red velvet pancakes!) and we're planning on filling up our garden bed with soil.  Maybe we'll even plant some things!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's fabulous!

Tangerine Tango

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7

This week's Friday's Fancies is all about...you guessed it...tangerine!  Obviously I wouldn't take all this tangerine goodness and put it into one outfit (wouldn't that be silly).  I thought I'd do FF a little differently this time and just share my dream tangerine essentials.  That Essie nail polish just so happens to be on my fingers right now, and it's every bit as awesome as it appears.  If I could slip my feet into those awesome Diane Von Furstenberg flats, I would be prancing around all day long with a smile on my face.  Pair that TopShop sweater with some skinny jeans and flats and you'd be set for the early stages of spring!  What do you think, are you a fan of Pantone's color of the year?  I sure am.

What are you up to this weekend? I'd love to hear!  Our weekend plans are minimal, which is much to my liking.  I'm feeling a bit adventurous and am trying to talk the mister into a day trip to spend outdoors - weather permitting, of course.  And that is only if today's threat of tornadoes doesn't live up to the hype.  Fingers crossed.  Oh, and, I know it's so cliche, but today's weather is making me incredibly homesick for Kansas.

Whatever you get up to this first weekend of March, I hope you have a great weekend!

Friday's Fancies + Have a Dazzling Weekend!

Friday's Fancies Oscars Edition

1. Monique Lhuillier Dress // 2. Zarb champagne // 3. Michael Kors Leg Shine // 4. Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick // 5. Jimmy Choo clutch // 6. Kimberly McDonald stud earrings // 7.  Christian Louboutin Lady Peep pumps

Happy Friday, friends!  This week's Friday's Fancies post is dedicated to all the red-carpet excitement that is coming up on Sunday!  It's crazy that it's already time for the Oscars again.  I can't wait to see how everyone is dressed and whether or not the wins are exciting.  All of this red carpet talk is totally putting me in the mood for some champagne!  Naturally, I couldn't leave it off the list.

I would feel oh-so-glam in this Monique Lhullier dress.  Even though the length is not quite Oscar appropriate, it's still a dazzler and I would love every last minute wearing it.  The stud earrings would be a dream come true to wear and let's not forget the importance of leg shine, right?

What have you planned for this final weekend of February?  Our spring-like weather is gone (in the blink of an eye, basically) so we can put our focus back on our indoor projects.  The wainscot is officially up but he ran out of glue so the project isn't 100% yet.  Hopefully I'll be telling you it IS complete come Monday.  Our dating anniversary is tomorrow (hooray!) so we'll surely be dining out somewhere nice and treating ourselves to some good old fashioned romance.  Last, we've decided it's time to finally invest in a second car (it's difficult in a sprawling city versus one where you can get what you need on foot or by train).  I am pretty sure test-driving is on the docket for the weekend as well.  How exciting!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's marvelous.  Until Monday! xoxo

Friday's Fancies + Have a Romantic Weekend!

Valentines Day

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

With Valentine's Day being next Tuesday, naturally I'm all aflutter with hearts, flowers and all things pink and red.  Don't get me wrong, I haven't always been like this.  I used to be one of the many who didn't enjoy this commercial holiday.  But I've always been fond of the candy.  Let's just make that one clear.

Seeing as though I a) never wear blazers and b) never wear heels, this outfit is definitely the definition of Friday's Fancies :: dream BIG!  Louboutins, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana lipstick.  Oh.  My.

What are you all up to this weekend? Any fun Valentine's plans for you?  This time last year we were digging our way out of the apartment and heading to Galena, IL for a romantic weekend in a cozy cottage.  We were so excited to get there that we immediately popped open a bottle of bubbly - which immediately sprayed the ceiling and spewed out half the contents of the bottle.  Just thought you might want to know that little tidbit :)

Have a great weekend, everybody!  I'm nursing a scratchy throat this weekend with lots of tea and honey.  Hopefully I'll be back to my healthy self in time for some weekend fun.

Have a Funny Weekend!

Sorry for the extra delayed post today - our internet has been down all day and we've been suffering ever since! Well not really, but the husband does work from home so it was a little stressful for him.  We're back up and running now so we're all good.  I just couldn't leave you all hanging without wishing you a great weekend! And I figured a little humor couldn't hurt in the process, right?  Also, I just watched this video earlier and I can't stop giggling.  Oh Chicago...

Friday's Fancies + Have a Lovely Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

Happy Friday, friends! I'm so glad the weekend is upon us as it's time to snuggle up by the fire and relax all weekend long.  That probably won't happen (and it's supposedly warming up this weekend), especially if Stevie has a say in it - we'll likely be running laps in the backyard and playing tug-of-war all weekend long.

This week's Friday's Fancies is all about outfit inspiration.  I think I needed this theme because I've been so uninspired by fashion as of late.  Is it just me?  I haven't enjoyed my clothes in awhile and haven't been inspired to go looking for new ones.  There's something weird about that!  I'm a pretty big fan of Marianna's looks in general, but this one is perfect for the wintery day many of us are having.

What are you up to this weekend? Something fun, I hope.  We're waiting with anticipation on the news of a new arrival - the mister's stepbrother is having a baby today (at least that's the hospital's plan) and I'm kind of hoping to rope a certain somebody into getting started on a bathroom project.  We'll see how that one goes :)

Happy weekend, everyone!

Friday's Fancies + Have an Awesome Weekend!

Friday's Fancies
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm so glad to be back to my usual blogging routine - especially Friday's Fancies! It's been so long!  This week's Friday's Fancies theme is "best foot forward" and because of that, I couldn't help but fall in love with these embellished Brian Atwood pumps.  Aren't they gorgeous? They're my favorite color (and color combo, honestly) and would look great with so many things.   And there's that scalloped clutch again - calling my name!

What plans do you have this weekend?  Tonight we're having some people (and dogs) over to love on Stevie.  We're trying to socialize her as much as we can from here on out, and Canuba and Dubie coming over is the best way to do so (because we get to reap all the benefits, too).  She has been doing so good for us - she's sleeping through the night now, although that does come with accidents.  We're hoping to get a baby gate/play pen area to keep her enclosed so her potty training works better when we're asleep (and you know, so she doesn't destroy anything...).  So our weekend is naturally going to be centered around her.  We're also finally celebrating Christmas with the Badger family and going out to eat with everyone.  Should be a good weekend - and if there are no trips to the ER this weekend, it will be about a million times better than last!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope you have an amazing few days!  Happy Friday!

Friday's Fancies + Have an Exciting Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

Happy Friday, lovelies!  What are your plans for the weekend?  I'm not sure entirely what's in store for us, but I do know that the weather is to be sunny and mild and that we have no projects we have to tackle.  Hopefully we'll have some fun, do some relaxing and just enjoy ourselves.

I went rogue for this week's Friday's Fancies and created an outfit that I'd love to be able to wear out and about, day or night.  However, the rests of the Friday's Fancies posse has created looks from Lilly Pulitzer's Jungle Glam Resort collection.  I couldn't bring myself to look at it all, as it feels like a giant tease for a vacation in the tropics.  Instead, I chose to create something based off the current weather so that I could be excited for the chilly temps.  I love the LP resort look, don't get me wrong!  Be sure to head over to {long distance loving} to check it all out and to enter her amazing Lilly Pulitzer big giveaway!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, enjoy yourselves!  Have a great one, my friends!

Going to a Sock Hop + Have a Spooktacular Weekend!

Friday's Fancies Halloween Edition

I can't believe today is already Friday! This week pretty much flew by for me - which is great, because I've been looking forward to today for good reasons.  Not only is it my sister-in-law's birthday but we have Chicago friends visiting this weekend!  This afternoon I am going to see Paranormal Activity 3, which I am slightly nervous about because I had a scary dream last night.  Our friends arrive just in time for dinner and after, we're all celebrating the birthday with good live music and drinks!

This week's Friday's Fancies is a little different than normal (is it obvious?!).  Today we're all creating a budget-less Halloween costume fit for the holiday on Monday - can you believe it's only a few days away? Are you sick of me talking about Halloween yet?!  I have never gone as a Sock Hop girl - is that even the correct term?  Something about this costume is appealing to me this year though.  I love the skirt + it looks very warm, as does the blouse.  They both look soft and comfy, too.  Usually, if I were to dress up as something traditional, I would spice it up in my own way.  For instance, when I was 21, I dressed up as a flapper girl (for like the fifth time in my life) but this time I was shot in the head, i.e., a zombie flapper girl.  The year before I was a fallen angel, complete with my own handmade wings (my 2 best friends were fallen angels as well, it was awesome) and we really amped up the dead factor.  So if I were to really wear this sock hop/poodle girl costume, I'd likely wear some zombie makeup just to make it feel a little more like me.

What are your plans this weekend?  I'm not entirely sure what our weekend is looking like but I hope we get the chance to see lots of costumes and have a few laughs over my husband dressed up as Abe Lincoln.  He seriously fits the part so well.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, have a fantastic time!  Be safe and enjoy the festivities!  Also, be sure to check out all the other amazing FF costumes over at {long distance loving}!

Friday's Fall Fancies

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

Happy Friday, friends! I'm so excited it's finally Friday - the mister comes home (late) tonight!  It's just not the same around here without him, even if the cat gets extra snuggly.  It also means it's time for another much needed weekend, spent laying around in our pajamas drinking coffee and enjoying each other's company, hanging out with friends and toasting a couple glasses of <insert adult beverage> to the arrival of my favorite season.

I love Autumn whole-heartedly.  The only thing I wish were different about this beautiful season is that a) winter did not follow and b) the time change did not happen.  I hate when its dark out in the 5 o'clock hour.

What have you in store this weekend?  We don't have any definite plans other than to watch that Bears v Packers game (oi).  I want to do some more decorating (especially for fall) and I hope that tomorrow we could possibly finally hopefully get around to brewing our own beer.  We've only been talking about it for nearly a year now...

It's been a gray, rainy morning here in Louisville.  So I thought what better way to ring in Friday's Fall Fancies than by pairing a cozy sweater with some beloved Hunter rain boots.  It's a classic look, one that I love to sport time and again and one that is perfectly suited for today's weather.  I think I just might have to bake something today in honor of fall and the chilly temps and soak it all in.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's a great one!  Til Monday...

Friday's Fancies + Have an Amazing Weekend

Game Day Fancies

Game Day Fancies by meaganpie featuring lace up booties

This week's Friday's Fancies theme is centered around game day.  With both college and pro football under way I figured I'd join in the fun and show my Bears spirit!  Last week's game was incredibly exciting (I had no faith that they were going to do well this year but I was proven wrong last Sunday, we'll see if that lasts...) and I'm very curious to see how they'll fare against the Saints on their home turf.  Go Bears!

What are you all up to this weekend?  We have some exciting things in store.  The Drive-In is calling our name and I could not be more thrilled about it!  I haven't been to a drive-in in eons even though I've been yearning to for years now.  Contagion and Horrible Bosses are playing back-to-back, so why not!  We're also celebrating a birthday again with a fun family dinner and hopefully we can journey to Bardstown, KY for the annual bourbon festival to make the hubs a happy man.  Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's amazing!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway!  You have until Sunday at 10 p.m. est.

Friday's Fancies + Have an Excellent Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

Are you guys ready for Mercedes Benz fashion week?  Well, are you?  Everything is in full swing and all of fashion's finest is in effect.  I for one am eager for photos, gossip and the like.

This week's Friday's Fancies is focused on just that.  Fashion and all things fashion forward.  Honestly, I have no idea if I pulled "fashion forward" off.  I doubt that Heidi, Michael & Nina would be too impressed, do you?  However, I can say with full honesty here that I would not have the guts to wear this out.  Not because I don't love it, but only because it's not...me.  But put this outfit on someone like Heidi Klum and voila!  Magic.

The Sonia Rykiel top was what started it all.  I couldn't get past the sequins and stripes (and I thought of Liz the whole time) and the colors.  Then I remembered how much I adored this and all the brightly colored pants of the runway and thought it was a match made in heaven.  I would never wear those shoes - mainly because I'm not sure I could walk in them, but they seem to be pretty sweet peeping out from under the pink pants.  Pink pants...yikes, did I just use those two words together in a sentence?  Anyway, I couldn't resist topping it all off with an edgy motorcycle jacket to bring a toughness to contrast all the softness going on here.  I hope I succeeded...but I'll let you all be the judge :)

What are you all up to this weekend?  We don't have much as far as plans but a lot needs to be done.  As usual.  I do know that we're ending the weekend with a special dinner that I am very much looking forward to.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's nothing short of grand!  Happy Friday + fashion week, my friends!
