29

Today I turn 29.  One more year until my golden birthday, good 'ole 30 on 30.  One more year to check things off my 30 before 30 list.  The year is going to fly by.

28 was a great age.  I moved from Chicago to Louisville, bought a house with my husband, got a doggie and got a new car, just to name a few.  Pretty great, right?  I think so.

We shall see what 29 beholds.  I'm hoping it's pretty great, too.  With a marriage at 27 and a house at 28, there's really only a few things in this world that could top that...

Cheers, from the Carribean!

It's Vacation Time!

JAMAICA!

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Happy Friday, y'all!  I'm so very incredibly excited today as it means we leave for Jamaica tomorrow!  I've got my bags packed (go me!) and my chores almost done.  I can't tell you how happy it makes me to imagine the fun we'll have. But it also means that I'll be leaving you guys for the next week.  I've got no guest posts lined up - just a break from blog world and well, a break from everything.  Such a great way to spend a week, especially a birthday week :)  That's right, I turn 29 on Wednesday!

Obviously I'm pretty into this week's Friday's Fancies theme ::

Sunny Skies!

It was easy for me to throw something together based on what I'll be doing this weekend.  Which is lying on the beach, sipping cocktails and frolicking in the ocean.  Yay!

I hope you all have a very happy weekend.  Whatever you get up to I hope it's wonderful!

Have a great week!

Sponsor Love :: Soulflower

Introducing ::

Soulflower, my latest sponsor, is an Etsy shop featuring original linocuts and screenprints.  Everything is so bright and vivid, it's hard to resist!

Personally, I love the linocut cards and would love to have a stash of them to mail to my friends and family throughout the country.  And the paintings are great and would liven up a room in a second.  I personally believe you can never have too much of this kind of thing :)

Take a moment with me to welcome Shellie to the Mo Pie, Please family!  Be sure to visit her Etsy shop and leave a lovely comment on her lovely blog, Soulflower.

What's In Your Bag?

Not featured on this list - the beach hat, the beach tote, a good book, sunscreen, beach towel and bevvies.  But please do not think for one moment that I would leave those behind.

Packing for a trip is hard.  I always end up overpacking and usually wind up wanting to wear the same thing more than I planned for.  I always bring enough stuff to help out more than just myself, I always prepare for the worst (probably for the best) and I still feel like I have nothing to wear or that I'm missing something.  But if I could choose from a grab bag of goodies found across the internet, I wouldn't have this problem...right?

I think I need to have a pedi in that Butter color, like yesterday.  Oh Jamaica, I can smell your ocean air, I can taste your tropical drinks.  Only a few more days until we meet at last!

Sorry if you're all so sick of hearing me talk about vacation.  It's not very nice of me, really.  We're still cool, right?

Weekend Recap

Welcome back to Monday, friends.  The only reason I am into it being Monday today is that it means I'm that much closer to Saturday a.k.a. vacation day!  Because of that, I'm pretty positive that this week will drag and drag.  Whatever.

How were your weekends?  Ours was pretty fantastic.  Some highlights include ::

  • Friday night pizza party!  Grilled pizza was a success!  We had carmelized onion + brie goat cheese, margherita and pepperoni + mushroom (I did not eat this one). Plus I made this for dessert (but with half cheesecake cheese, half mascarpone) I may or may not have drank too much wine too fast but I thoroughly enjoyed myself, my friends and the lovely weather.
  • After lounging around in our p.j.'s for most of the morning, we staked some plants in the garden that are growing like weeds.  This is a highlight because man, it feels good to successfully grow something from a seed. For the first time.
  • Stevie's doggie class is really fun - she got to show off her mad skillz and she also learned a new trick in just a few tries.  Her definitely knows "leave it" quite well.
  • After entertaining and drinking so much on Friday night, we opted for a quiet night in.  We played some bocce under our cafe lights (that we strung in the trees on Thursday), ate fresh pasta with roasted summer squash, watched TV and saw the Thunder come back from behind to beat the Lakers again.  Not too bad of a Saturday night if I do say so.
  • Sunday brought us lunch at Bluegrass Brewing Company and a trip to the Water Tower/LVAA for the Buy Local First fair.  We sipped brews and perused handmade goods, hung out with Raegan (who was working the event and looked so hot and tired), ate some derby pie ice cream and stared at cute babies.

Hope your weekend was amazing - and here's to a great week ahead!

Friday's Fancies + Have a Sunny Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

shirt // jeans // purse // sunglasses // bronzer // nail polish // necklace // sandals

Happy Friday, everyone!  I'm so glad it's here and we can officially start the weekend!  Tonight we're having friends over for that grilled pizza I talked about last week (sickness stood in the way!).  Tomorrow we've got class #2 for lil' Stevie love (she's acing it, by the way, we knew she would though) and I'm sure the rest of the weekend will be filled with something fun, and the time will fly by super fast.  What are you up to this weekend?

Today's Friday's Fancies post is centered around the beloved chambray shirt.  I still do not own a chambray shirt but I sure wish I did.  I also wish I owned coral colored jeans to pair it with.  In fact, I wish I owned this entire ensemble!  I included the bronzer for a sun-kissed look (which is a makeup style I'm totally loving lately) and I fell pretty hard for both the Chloe sunglasses and bright yellow purse.  Color, color, color!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's fantastic!  Until Monday...xoxo.

Thursday Loves

I fell in love the moment I spotted this colorful arrangement via {av} via Pinterest.   I have my eyes set on coral colored annuals to plant outside after we get back from Jamaica.  Wouldn't it be fantastic to just go outside and pick flowers that equal this lovely arrangement?  I could only hope for something a that equaled a fraction of this beauty.

I was perusing through the latest issue of Lucky when I came across the article, "unexpected purse essentials".  This Aesop Ginger Flight Therapy ($31) fragrance would be pretty incredible to have, as it is both calming and stimulating at once.  It sure would make that flight to Jamaica a little better, don't you think?

How scrumdiddlyumptious does this creamy lemon tart with rosemary crust look? I want to eat it.  Now.  Lemon + rosemary? So delicious and perfect for the summer weather we're having today.

This cute little gauzy tank dress also comes in coral and white (sold out, unfortunately).  I think it would really make a pretty great cover up dress for the summer and I think I need to hunt one down.  This, my friends, is why blogging is bad for my wallet :)

These coral doors are pretty awesome.  So are all the plants.  Nicely done, I say.  Nicely done.

How are your weeks? Wonderful, I hope!  You've almost made it to Friday!

P.S. - please click this link.  You deserve the laugh.  Unfortunately the images wouldn't load big enough for me to just share with you...

Vesu-su-suvio

It's images like these that conjure up the finest of memories - strolling hand in hand through Venice, Florence, Tuscany and Rome.  Sipping wine on the terrace of our Roman apartment, immersed in the sounds of Italians gathering for dinner.  Drinking cappuccinos and eating croissants at breakfast every morning, eating caprese and panini's for lunch - always with house wine.  One simple image arouses so many memories of our perfect honeymoon.  It leaves me salivating for not only freshly baked bread and gelato, but colorful bits of fashion paired together to evoke a summer stroll through the streets of Italia.

Buon giorno!

Weekend Recap

This photo is reflective of 2 parts of my weekend.

1. Gus is a monster (that is not Gus pictured above, I can't take beautiful photos like that!) and is living the cat in that window's dream.
2.  We were that cat for most of the weekend, longing to be outside where there is life and play and fresh air and something good to eat.  There's something really sad about being sick on a Friday night.  But nothing a little Wet Hot American Summer couldn't cure.

Some highlights include ::

  • Wet Hot American Summer
  • The Iron Lady (so good)
  • Lemon Pancakes
  • The Hunger Games (I finally got around to reading it and yeah, I'm hooked)
  • Jeopardy! Teen Tournament (catching a theme here? sick = tv galore)
  • Finally back to mostly healthy for a rainy Sunday getting out and about and having fun
  • Mother's Day - I got to talk with my mom who was enjoying lunch from a favorite restaurant and we enjoyed dinner with my mom-in-law where we devoured a chiffon cake and drank champagne while watching all the dogs play, play, play!

I'm so happy to be feeling better, have my man feeling better and be able to leave the house again!  Thank you for all your well wishes :)

How were your weekends? A very happy belated mother's day to all you mommies out there!
