Summer Staples

Friends, are any of you living in anything other than t-shirts, shorts and sandals?  I can't even bring myself to wear a dress. Maybe that's because I know I have to change my shirt frequently due to spit-up and drool stains and maybe it's because this is the most comfortable outfit my weird post-partum body is into.  I don't know, but this summer is all about the casual staples, day in and day out.  What are you living in these days?

Winter Water Factory

This Brooklyn-based clothing company, Winter Water Factory, is comprised of oodles of goodness, wouldn't you agree?  The organic materials, beautiful textiles and affordable prices make me a serious fan.  If only my little guy would let me know how long he'll be fitting in a certain size, I could place an order! I swear, Sunday, his current clothes fit fine.  Yesterday and today, I've noticed the sleeves hang off his shoulders because you have to pull on the bottom part so much in order to snap it shut!  Dad and I keep joking (but it's likely the truth) that this kiddo will grow to be 7 feet tall.  My little Wyatt the giant.

Color Crush :: Coral & Navy

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7

Friends! I have been itching, and I mean itching, to create blog posts for you that don't involve photos of my baby (but please indulge me when I do).  Blog posts that involve what I used to post about.  You know, like clothes, accessories, blah, blah.  So here we go, my first color crush post in...forever!

I love the color combo of coral and navy.  I would love to squeeze into that Madewell striped skirt one night and go for a walk in the park in those adorable coral Keds.  What do you think, are you a fan of the combination?

I love, love, love this card with all my heart!  Via

How delicious do these cherry margaritas look?  I think I'm starting to make a list of all the adult beverages I want after this baby is born.  These are moving to the top of the list, I must say!  Via

I've been really into flowy blouses lately and this one is certainly stunning.  Via

We already have our mobile/nursery theme picked out, but this happy day cloud mobile sure is darling.

Last but not least, how precious are these hand-carved stools?  Oh. My. God.  Via

I hope your weeks have been lovely.  I'm happy we're so close to the weekend - and I'm especially looking forward to tomorrow because I'm being treated to a prenatal massage!  Woo!

Happy Thursday!

I thought I'd start today's post off with some serious cuteness.  These Teddy leggings from Mini Rodini are the cat's pajamas and any baby boy would look exceptionally adorable in them.

I just love this in its entirety.  I love Julia Child, I love to eat and I love the design.  Via

I can't get over how dreamy this porch is.  I bet it's nestled perfectly in the mountains somewhere and I bet this scene is straight out of fall when the rest of us are dreaming of crisp weather that calls for plaid blankets and fires.  Needless to say, I want to go to there.  Via

Lately, I've had a bit of an obsession with white, flowy blouses with lace or embroidered details.  And I saw this on Pinterest and really loved it, although I'm not fond of her pairing with army-print jeans.  It just seems so lovely and feminine in just the right ways.  Shirt via (now sold out), photo via

Considering it's the dead of winter and considering we have yet to figure out a good solution for our shoes in the entryway, I think this idea is brilliant.  We have an ugly tray for collecting wet boots, but this just takes it to a different level.  Not only does it look better but it functions better.  Genius!  Via

How are you all doing? Excited that Friday is tomorrow?!  Who am I kidding, of course you are!  I do hope your weeks have been going well.  Ours has been strange here in Louisville - 70 degrees one day, tornado warnings at 4 a.m. and it's freezing cold with snow on the ground today.  Trying my best to remain healthy and happy.  Happy Thursday, y'all!

I'm really loving the looks of this industrial kitchen and think it would be quite fun to drink coffee and eat pastries, followed by some casual knitting at this lovely table.  Via

How rad is this elephant cupboard?!  I've never seen anything like it! I imagine such creativity is sparked through this guy.  Via

Nothing much to say about this one, just finding it beautiful today.  Subtitled, "safety not guaranteed."  Via

This girl really rocks this outfit, don't you think? I don't know if I could pull it off, but she seems to rather effortlessly.  Via

Last, I'll leave you with this lip-smacking image of french macarons.  I've craved these throughout my pregnancy but have not indulged.  I.  Need.  One.  Now.  Via

Hope you're having lovely weeks.  It's a rainy day here, likely the start of a week of rainy days.  I don't mind one bit (at least for now).  Happy Thursday, loves!

Friday's Fancies + Happy New Year!

New Years

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

Happy New Year, bloggie friends!  It's hard to believe 2013 is here and well underway but I am very much looking forward to it.  Since the start of the year, we've had some good and relaxing times that I think will reflect our year to come.  The word "low key" rings true to our lifestyle and even after baby comes, I imagine we'll maintain that phrase, even with a wailing newborn in the background.

Today's Friday's Fancies is an ode to the new year and an ode to my outlook of the year ahead.  Pregnancy may keep me in yoga pants and oversized sweaters but I've still found ways to reflect my personal style and stay true to myself.  I might have to change my favorite purse out for a stylish backpack/diaper bag, and I might have to switch out cute strappy sandals for easy slip-ons, but there are ways of doing so that keep me happy.  Plus, if I could live in soft cashmere, I think I'd be all set.  If only.

What are you up to this weekend?  Tonight we'll be hanging out with some fave people and tomorrow we're adventuring to Cincinnati to spend the afternoon day at Ikea.  I haven't been to Ikea in a hot minute so I'm both anxiously awaiting it and dreading the trip at the same time.  Hopefully we'll score some good nursery finds and load up on picture frames to fill the house without any spats or meltdowns :)

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope you enjoy yourselves!  Oh, and last but not least ::

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANNA-MARIA!

Fab Fall Looks

Holy me oh my.  This look is layered perfection!  Via

The colors + stripes = swoon!  Via

The cozy navy sweater and the mustard bag is such a perfect fall combination.  Via

Ok, I'm starting to see a theme here.  Obviously I plan to layer chunky sweaters over denim shirts and throw in some oxfords or booties here and there :)  Via

What are you planning to sport this fall? Can you believe it's only a tad over 2 weeks away?!

I am so enamored by the artwork coming out of Snedker Studio.  The image above is a tiny example of all the awesomeness they consist of.  Click on the link and check it out for yourself! And go ahead and buy me some prints while you're at it.

* Thanks for all your encouraging comments about work for me this week! We're surviving, but not without early bed times and lots of deep breaths.  Eek...at least we're starting to grasp it all.  But seriously, you guys are the best.

Friday's Fancies + Have a Glorious Weekend!

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7

Happy Friday, friends! We've made it through another long week and another glorious weekend is upon us.  Whew!  This weekend I'm excited to do a whole lot of nothing.  We'll likely take it easy and enjoy our alone time - maybe we'll even find some time to catch a movie or play outside.  What do you have planned?

This week's Friday's Fancies is focused on gingham.  I'm not the biggest fan, personally, but I do really love these vintage shorts.  This whole ensemble feels like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn to me, and I'd love to frolic around feeling glamorous yet totally ready for a spontaneous picnic in the park.  How 'bout you, are you a fan of gingham?

Cheers to a lovely weekend ahead - I hope you get to enjoy it thoroughly! Until Monday...

Have I confessed my love for this dress to you yet?  Because it's a pretty big obsession.  With that necklace especially, all I can do is swoon.  Over and over! Via

Drawing inspiration for our thrift store purchase last summer - a mid-century era console that needs some updating.  It has off white colored fabric panels along the front that need to be replaced with something.  More on this later, with pictures, I promise. Via

I sure do love the looks of this leather pouch from Coriumi,  It's a fun and colorful print, looks well made and you can be sure you likely won't run into someone with the same pouch.

We have finally eaten the entirety of my first batch of homemade popsicles.  Am I the only one who has a hard time spelling p-o-p-s-i-c-l-e the right way? I always want to put a c after that p and that doesn't make any sense at all!  I'm searching for the best-sounding most delicious-looking popsicle I can find.  Any recipes or ideas for me?  I'm thinking of the boozy route this time, so that my husband will help me eat them all ;)  Via

Last night we watched The Artist.  This scene is tied as my favorite (the other being when the dog saved his life from the fire).  I have to admit, the movie bored me in the beginning but I thoroughly enjoyed the second half.  I can understand why it received best picture.  Have you seen it?  Via

Friday's Fancies + Have a Sweet Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

Happy Friday, everyone!  TGIF, as they say...because it's been a long week in my opinion.  Some crazy things have been happening around our neck of the woods.  Our septic system is completely replaced but our yard is no longer a yard but rather a dirt field.  Goodbye, grass.  I'll miss you dearly.  And since we have to wait for it to settle, which means there needs to be at least 4 or 5 good rains, we probably won't be seeing our yard as a yard for a long time.  But hey, no more gross standing water, yay!

We don't really have much planned for the weekend, other than the usual - obedience school, probably a trip to Lowes or Home Depot and hanging out.  We might catch a movie, spend time on the porch and hopefully spend quality time with friends! What do you have planned?

This week's Friday's Fancies is about color blocking.  I love this trend and find that you can make it work with just about anything.  Lately I've been preferring colored shorts and basic tees.  Honestly, the two ensembles above pretty much reflect my declared summer wardrobe of 2012.  It's simple, easy to accessorize and is super comfortable.  A match made in heaven if you ask me.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone! xoxo.

Friday's Fancies + Have a Great Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

Happy Friday, y'all!  I can tell that we're in for a good weekend (more on that later) and that the weather is going to feel like nothing but summer.   If money were no option, I'd be traipsing around in this outfit with just a touch of color on my face.  Weekend minimal at its best, right?

What do you have planned for this weekend? I'd love to hear!  Whatever you get up to, have fun, be safe and enjoy yourself!

It's Vacation Time!

JAMAICA!

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Happy Friday, y'all!  I'm so very incredibly excited today as it means we leave for Jamaica tomorrow!  I've got my bags packed (go me!) and my chores almost done.  I can't tell you how happy it makes me to imagine the fun we'll have. But it also means that I'll be leaving you guys for the next week.  I've got no guest posts lined up - just a break from blog world and well, a break from everything.  Such a great way to spend a week, especially a birthday week :)  That's right, I turn 29 on Wednesday!

Obviously I'm pretty into this week's Friday's Fancies theme ::

Sunny Skies!

It was easy for me to throw something together based on what I'll be doing this weekend.  Which is lying on the beach, sipping cocktails and frolicking in the ocean.  Yay!

I hope you all have a very happy weekend.  Whatever you get up to I hope it's wonderful!

Have a great week!

What's In Your Bag?

Not featured on this list - the beach hat, the beach tote, a good book, sunscreen, beach towel and bevvies.  But please do not think for one moment that I would leave those behind.

Packing for a trip is hard.  I always end up overpacking and usually wind up wanting to wear the same thing more than I planned for.  I always bring enough stuff to help out more than just myself, I always prepare for the worst (probably for the best) and I still feel like I have nothing to wear or that I'm missing something.  But if I could choose from a grab bag of goodies found across the internet, I wouldn't have this problem...right?

I think I need to have a pedi in that Butter color, like yesterday.  Oh Jamaica, I can smell your ocean air, I can taste your tropical drinks.  Only a few more days until we meet at last!

Sorry if you're all so sick of hearing me talk about vacation.  It's not very nice of me, really.  We're still cool, right?

Friday's Fancies + Have a Relaxing Weekend!

Friday's Fancies

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Well friends, I am so relieved to know it's Friday.  This week has been...weird, and I am glad for it to be over.  I can't wait to relax this weekend, break in our new grill with some friends, maybe watch some fireworks and possibly even plant some flowers.  What do you have planned?

One of the things I would love to add to my weekend is a picnic.  With the weather being as nice as it's been the last month or so, it's the perfect opportunity to do so day after day.  So what is stopping me? I even have an adorable picnic basket from a lovely friend, complete with the perfect plaid blanket to sit on.  I would pack champagne, cheeses, bread.  I would bring cards to play and a book to read.  And I would most definitely try to wear something like today's Friday's Fancies, that is for sure.

Whether you're attending a picnic or not, I hope your weekend is wonderful! Until Monday...

A fierce image deserves a decently fierce outfit.  Thank God for that ring.  Or else this wouldn't be fierce at all, right?  I mean really, how great is that ring?  I want it.  I want it all.

How does your garden grow? Now that spring is inching closer, we're talking more and more about our soon-to-be vegetable garden.  Husband has it all planned out, to my delight, but I keep finding so many awesome ways to grow everything.  Our biggest problem will be keeping deer out of our stuff, not to mention the cat, dog and other animals wandering through.  But it's almost time to start! Via

Ever since I spotted these on pinterest last week, I've had an undeniable craving for them.  They look so perfect in every single bite.  How can one resist??  Via

Speaking of spring, this skirt would make a great addition to anyone's closet for the upcoming warm months!  I'm in love already.  Via

And wouldn't this necklace match perfectly with the warehouse skirt above? I do declare it would.  It would indeed.

I'm obviously in the bright-colored mood today, and when I spotted Essie's spring collection via Matchbook Magazine, my nails were all like, "hey, paint me that beautiful orange color at once!".

The weather is warm today (70 and sunny!) and it's got me itching for sunshiny days ahead.  I hope you are getting a glimpse of spring this week as well!

I'm in love with this Lauren Moffatt dress and I want the whole world to know!  Via Greedy Girl

Villarreal Ceramics is the featured artist on Etsy today, and it's really no surprise why.  Between her hand-painted ceramics featuring feathers and llamas to her hand-crafted wall boxes and sculptures, it makes total sense that Etsy would want the world to know about Vanessa Villarreal's talent.

I'm really loving the looks of this sepia throw from Jayson Home and Garden.  I'm also really missing that store today...

Caprese bites? Yes, please! Anything bite-sized is making me happy these days.  Can you tell?!

This easy minimalist oak desk from Design Sponge looks fantastic!  I would love to recreate this look in our home - and definitely copy the color going on here.
