Calligraphy

One thing I wish I had done with all my time off is learn calligraphy.  It might not be useful for every day life, but how amazing would it be to be able to write like that?  I admire it so much and would try to put my skills to the test with SO MANY THINGS.

Isn't it lovely? Do any of you know how to do this?!

I would LOVE to be able to write like that. Sadly, I don't even nice regular handwriting. I can sign my name 10 times in a day and it never looks the same. I don't know why.

My college roommate could write in any handwriting ... I always had her write fancy for me :D Since I'm currently unemployed, I should take a class... Love the pic of the tattoo you have here...

YES! It is really easy ... barrow a book from the library(or look on you tube ...lol) and the ink sets are so cheap at a local craft store :) You should try it. Its always good to try something new!

So pretty! I learned when I was really young. I haven't done it in years, though. Now, I wonder if I still have the pens somewhere.

so random but I took calligraphy lessons when I was a kid :) I also had to take penmanship classes.

It's really not the hard and you can do the easier fonts to practice on.

i have a friend who can do it! she is an artist, so that's probably why. and when i worked in a bakery i learned how to do fancy cursive on cakes, but i haven't got the patience i don't think! (or that steady of a hand!)

Oh, calligraphy, how I adore you! I like to think I have lovely handwriting, but it's nothing like the real thing!

I agree, calligraphy is stunning to look at. I had a kit when I was a kid, and it was a lot of fun but I didn't have the patience to finish ^^

i do love pretty handwriting and wish I would take more time into perfecting my own handwriting but it just seems so hard. It would be a nice talent to have

Hi Megan! Just discovered your blog off Audreys and so happy I did!! Love caligraphy, I actually tried teaching myself while I was wedding planning and realized it is really difficult and takes much practice and should not be done under stress, i.e. do not mess up half of your wedding invitations. :) It is something I want to continue practicing though.

So beautiful! I love calligraphy! I tried to learn to address my save-the-dates and then realized afterwards that I was horrible :)

I LOVE calligraphy! I think it's so, so beautiful. And I'm so obsessed with handwriting (I will literally re-write my notes until they're perfect). I want to learn!!!

it's seriously such an amazing talent some people have. if i had a tattoo it would be in calligraphy like that one.

i always thought i could skimp on wedding invitations - but then you see things like this and it seems like a MUST have :)

My roommate knows how to do this! I should get her to teach me.

i wish i could learn to write like this - my handwriting is like the cursive of a 16 year old valley girl

There are courses where I live for learning it properly, but I have a friend who taught herself and it is amazing - gorgeous photos.

I don't know how to do it but, like you, I sure wish I did!

Amazing ♥
Hm, I remember we had writing as a class at school, but our teacher was no good, so I didn't really learn much x)

so beautiful! my mom knew how (and probably still knows how) to do calligraphy. I remember her having all her different pens and inks. She doesn't anymore because she relies on her hands for her job and main source of income, but I've asked her to do a few projects that involve some simple calligraphy. I've also enlisted a friend who is on her way to starting her own calligraphy biz to address our wedding invites! I'm so excited to see them all done! You should definetly learn how. it's never to late to start learning a new skill xo Kirby

I agree! Calligraphy is so elegant. I'd like to pretend I can learn it, but I'm not patient enough.

Meagan July 7, 2011 at 11:25 AM

Thanks to this post, I'm now obsessed with finding a calligraphy class near me. I'd love to learn to write like that!

Sara July 7, 2011 at 9:38 PM

It's official. I'm SO learning calligraphy!

Tang July 8, 2011 at 10:15 AM

That is DEFINITELY something I want to learn better! You'd think if you had nice handwriting it would translate to nice calligraphy: NOPE. I need to learn some techniques! :)

Elle July 13, 2011 at 6:10 PM

I would LOVE to write like this- I'm trying to learn calligraphy right now, but I am not so skilled in the handwriting department

Oh, My Darling July 22, 2011 at 8:02 PM
