Life has been good lately.  Between the sweetness of summer and the sweetness of this little boy, we've been a happy Badger clan.  Sure, he has exhausted us to our core.  Sure, he gets super fussy in the evenings and we can never manage to eat a warm meal together.  With time, those things will fade away (and new annoyances will surely emerge).  For now, as long as his face continues to light up when one of us enters his line of sight, it's all worth it!

Lately

Sir Wyatt has completely consumed our lives over the last 7 weeks, but would anyone expect otherwise?  He is a pretty amazing baby, even if he does keep us up for 2 hours some nights in the wee hours.  We're madly in love and that's all that matters.

We managed to go out on a date this past Friday night, consisting of delicious Mexican cuisine (hello, margaritas!) and The Great Gatsby.  It was lovely and much needed (thanks again, BeBe and Papa Badger!).  We managed to spend some time poolside as well, but only after a very trying afternoon.  It's so easy to forget so many necessary things when you're venturing out with an infant.  It's also so very easy for the world's worst traffic jam to ruin a very fine day.  Luckily, we were handsomely rewarded with a sweet baby giving us 7 straight hours of sleep.  Yes! Now that seems like good car...ma ;)

How are you all? I can't believe I managed a post, and with nursery pictures I promised forever ago at that! God bless nap time!

6 weeks old

Holy crap, you guys.  My baby boy is 6 weeks old already.  How did that happen?  I'll tell you how it happened.  The days blur together when you're waking up every few hours to feed a hungry, growing boy.

Just thought I'd pop in to say hi, that I miss you guys and I'm sorry to have neglected this blog so much.

Uh oh, it's time to feed him again!

xoxo

Happy Weekend!

{my Valentine's flowers, I love them}

Happy Friday, friends! I'm sorry for my absence this week.  Between work, doctors appointments and our expected company this weekend, I've been a little busy.  But I wanted to drop in and wish you all a happy weekend!

Tomorrow is my baby shower and I've been looking forward to it for so long now.  My sister-in-law has been planning it and I know that no matter what, it's going to be incredible.  Because of the shower, we have 6 troopers driving in from Kansas just for the occasion.  I'm so excited to see all of my loved ones and to have everyone reunite to honor the sweet little boy who is soon to make his grand entrance to the world.

So many wonderful things have happened or are happening this week.  Some close friends of ours welcomed their baby girl to the world yesterday, my favorite peanut turned 2, my best friend is due any second now and my coworker got engaged this morning!  Let's hope the remainder of the week is filled with excitement and joy.

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's fantastic!

I love, love, love this card with all my heart!  Via

How delicious do these cherry margaritas look?  I think I'm starting to make a list of all the adult beverages I want after this baby is born.  These are moving to the top of the list, I must say!  Via

I've been really into flowy blouses lately and this one is certainly stunning.  Via

We already have our mobile/nursery theme picked out, but this happy day cloud mobile sure is darling.

Last but not least, how precious are these hand-carved stools?  Oh. My. God.  Via

I hope your weeks have been lovely.  I'm happy we're so close to the weekend - and I'm especially looking forward to tomorrow because I'm being treated to a prenatal massage!  Woo!

Happy Thursday!

I thought I'd start today's post off with some serious cuteness.  These Teddy leggings from Mini Rodini are the cat's pajamas and any baby boy would look exceptionally adorable in them.

I just love this in its entirety.  I love Julia Child, I love to eat and I love the design.  Via

I can't get over how dreamy this porch is.  I bet it's nestled perfectly in the mountains somewhere and I bet this scene is straight out of fall when the rest of us are dreaming of crisp weather that calls for plaid blankets and fires.  Needless to say, I want to go to there.  Via

Lately, I've had a bit of an obsession with white, flowy blouses with lace or embroidered details.  And I saw this on Pinterest and really loved it, although I'm not fond of her pairing with army-print jeans.  It just seems so lovely and feminine in just the right ways.  Shirt via (now sold out), photo via

Considering it's the dead of winter and considering we have yet to figure out a good solution for our shoes in the entryway, I think this idea is brilliant.  We have an ugly tray for collecting wet boots, but this just takes it to a different level.  Not only does it look better but it functions better.  Genius!  Via

How are you all doing? Excited that Friday is tomorrow?!  Who am I kidding, of course you are!  I do hope your weeks have been going well.  Ours has been strange here in Louisville - 70 degrees one day, tornado warnings at 4 a.m. and it's freezing cold with snow on the ground today.  Trying my best to remain healthy and happy.  Happy Thursday, y'all!

2012

2012 was a pretty great year for us, but even so, I'm rather glad to see it go.  2013 will be a BIG year for our family, and quite frankly, I can't wait.

I did not intend to slip away from this blog.  I did not intend to desert my blog friends or shy away from sharing amazing internet finds.  It just sort of feels right to spend less and less time in this corner of the internet of mine.  For that I apologize, and for that I thank you for understanding.

2012 brought a lot of pretty cool things.  We got a doggie! And as of tomorrow, we've officially had her for an entire year!  She has changed our lives (maybe not Gus) for the better, even if her breath smells like the garbage.  We had so many awesome visitors!  We traveled to Jamaica where I celebrated my 29th birthday!  We gardened! We replaced our expired septic system.  Please note, that one does not deserve an exclamation point, but I am relieved that it a) works properly and b) won't need replacing for a long, long time.  And last but not least of the highlights of 2012 - we got PREGNANT!

And for your curiosity...

We found out two weeks ago, but honestly, we already knew.  I had a feeling from the moment I knew I was pregnant - and so did a majority of our friends and family.  My mom wouldn't even step foot in the girls section and bought us plenty of boy stuff long before the ultrasound confirmed it.  We're very excited, needless to say, and have started to go a little bonkers with the registry and setting up the nursery.  Christmas was good to our son, so project organizethenurseryasapbeforethecatgetstrappedundercopiousamountsofclothes needs to start now.

We have no big plans for NYE this year.  I'm okay with that.  Being pregnant for me means I can't enjoy things the way I used to.  However, I found some alcohol-removed champagne and I may paint my nails something festive.  It'll have to do :)

I'm happy, healthy and ready for the new year.  So welcome, 2013!

Whoa.  The baker inside of me is infatuated with these toys!  I haven't been baking too much lately (although that really should change) but these are the kinds of toys that make my eyes light up!  Via  Thanks for pinning, Krystal!

I love everything about this coat, mainly the color.  And funny enough, I bought a camel-colored coat from H&M this year that is so similar in looks, size and shape.  The price isn't so bad, either! Via

This image has been making the blog rounds but I really wanted to share it too.  I love how the sheepskin makes it look like snow at the bottom of the tree.  There's no way it would work well in my house with the dog and cat around though :) Via

Another step towards baby Badger's nursery is complete! Thanks to a sale which basically knocked off shipping, these Oh Deer - Retro decals are going up on the walls.  Everything is coming together a little faster than expected but it's so nice to have the decorations coming together early so we can focus on all the expensive items we have to have when it matters most.  Via

Erin of Reading My Tea Leaves put together a stocking stuffer gift guide roundup that is featured on Etsy today!  It features some of the coolest finds around, and I would love to have them all in my stocking come Christmas morning!

Hope you're all having a lovely week - and that you all had a lovely Thanksgiving.  We played host to some amazing friends, followed by a visit from my parents.  It was a great time and definitely left me in the Christmas spirit.  Happy almost Friday, friends!

Here's a beautiful photo to freshen up your Thursday.  The colors are so pleasing to the eye, don't you think?  Be sure to check out the rest of this post!

I love this oversized sweater with two handsome bucks adorning the front.  But the part I love the most is the fact that it's only $32!  Via SheInside Via Krystal's Pinterest.

It really is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around my neck of the woods.  Sure, there may not be decorations outside of stores or anything that really signals Christmas being here but the feeling is definitely in the air.  As I drove to work yesterday morning, a herd of deer crossed the road ahead, the ground was covered in frost and a new Bob Dylan tune (let's face it, I thought I was hearing Louis Armstrong for a minute) graced the radio.  It just felt so very Christmasy.  And this year I have kraft paper, bakers twine and high hopes of wrapping some gifts from this inspiration!  Via

Dear husband, this one's especially for you.  Especially now that I'm eating for two....please forgive anything negative that might come out of my mouth.  The lil' chief inside me is awfully demanding!  Look at me, already blaming my unborn child for mean things I might say, haha.  Poor thing.  Via

Mo pie, please!  With Thanksgiving being right around the corner (hello, one week!) it's time to start dreaming of pie again.  Recently, we attended a lovely wedding with copious amounts of pie for dessert in lieue of the traditional cake.  One of the pies was persimmon pie, and let me tell you, husband is 100% on board the persimmon pie train.  What will you be having come turkey day? I'd love to hear!

Happy Thursday, everyone!  It feels good to be posting again, even if it's not on a regular basis.  Thanks for sticking around with me and making my day brighter with your sweet comments.  Hope your weeks have been treating you well!

Hello + An Announcement!

{image, and no, this is not me}

Hey, everyone!  I'm so sorry it's been so long since I last popped in to say hello, but I promise it was for the best.   You see, I took the last few months off from blogging because something major was happening around here.  I couldn't bear the thought of spending time on the computer, in fact,  it made me nauseous just thinking about it.  And here's why (in case you haven't already guessed)...

I'm pregnant.

There!  Now you all know!  I'm 14 weeks and 5 days pregnant, in fact.  I'm over the roughest part.  And I will gladly shout AMEN from the rooftops for that one.  Whew.  That was rough.

Yesterday, I felt movement for the first time.  It was amazeballs.  We've been able to see our lil' chief a few times but feeling that movement definitely helped with that whole "connection" thing people always talk about.

My due date is May 7, 2013.  At the rate this lil thing is growing though it might be sooner.  I swear its limbs are 8 feet long, judging by the ultrasound.  Let's keep in mind, its father is 6'4" and I am only 5'2" and there is not much room in there for such long limbs.  So this should definitely be an interesting journey, for the next 6 months.  Oh God, only 6 more months?  Only 6 more months!

And as every good blogger usually says, I promise not to turn this into a baby blog.  After all, I do still love all things I posted about before.  But you have to admit that from time to time, seeing some babeh stuffs is always fun, right?!

Thank you for being so kind during my much needed hiatus.  I promise to return to more regular programming, but please be understanding if I just don't have it in me as often as I did before.

I've missed you all! I do hope you're all doing well.  Oh, and please, do let me know what kind of content you've missed the most while I've been gone (if at all?).  That way I can use my time wisely :)

You're the best.  All of you.

Happy Friday!

xoxo,
Mo

Have a great weekend + I'm home!

I'm home, and while it feels good to be back home with my own little family, I'm so sad that my trip is over.  Wichita treated me well, like, really well.

Nearly my entire family picked me up at the airport on Monday afternoon, and we promptly headed back to my mom and stepdad's house.  The weather was almost perfect (the wind was insane), around 80 degrees!  We sat out on the back deck and I caught up with my mom and brother.  We had a family dinner, played a quick game with the kids and then I spent the rest of the evening laughing at silly YouTube videos with my oldest niece.  The two girls were able to spend the night and I shared a bed with the oldest...but never again.  She woke me up at 3 a.m. after punching me in the eye in her sleep!  Needless to say, I gave her a lot of grief over that one.

The next day we all went to the zoo!  The Sedgwick County zoo is one of the best in the country, especially thanks to the recent additions made possible by Charles Koch.   We saw penguins, gorillas, tigers, lions, peacocks, flamingos, etc.  It was perfect and the weather was like summer.  Seriously, it couldn't have been any more perfect.

The following day, I convinced everyone to go to the Coleman Factory Outlet to find some super cheap camping gear.   Wichita is home to Coleman, and the outlet is seriously an amazing store.  We're pretty much set for our next camping trip now, thanks to my brother who gave us his old tent and who helped me pick out the best of the lanterns made.

Later that night, my stepdad took both my brother and I to the Wichita State University Shockers basketball game, who were vying for a trip to Madison Square Garden for the National Invitation Tournament.  We cheered them on to a victory and sent them on their way to the NIT Final Four!  It was so exciting, and because our original seats were directly behind the camera crew, they ended up moving us down to the 4th row which was only two levels up above the actual court.  Talk about a good deal!  It was so loud in that arena, it was one of the best Wichita experiences I have had since I moved away.

Yesterday, I spent the rest of my trip at my mom's.  The kids were there, we played Apples to Apples Jr., which was hilarious, and I went through a gigantic tub of pictures, drawings and memorabilia from my youth.  It took forever, but I'm so happy I did it because lo and behold, my deceased father's pocket watch was in there.  I thought I had lost this prized possession years ago.  It's been tearing me up inside ever since.  So when I opened the box it was hiding in, I cried tears of joy!  I couldn't help it....it's the only thing of his that I have that has any real meaning to me.  He used it every single day and now it's back in my hands.  Not much can beat a feeling like that.

It was so hard to say goodbye after such an amazing time with them.  While I didn't get to see much of all of my family, it was so great to spend so much time with the ones I did see.  The only thing that could have made the trip any better was if my husband had been there to enjoy it all too.  But that's okay.

Anyway...it's the weekend now!  What are your plans? How were your weeks?? I'd love to hear.  We've got a big basketball weekend ahead of us.  Rock Chalk Jayhawk, Go KU!  We're totally going all the way, I can just FEEL it.  Whatever you get up to, I hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy your weekend completely!

Lastly, thank you to Kirby for your awesome guest post!  Thank you Raegan for posting pictures of the handsome Liam, Hadley & Ryan's little bundle of joy.  He really is the bee's knees.

I'm too happy for words!

Okay, this may be the wrong image to use here but....I can't stop cheesing.  I seriously can't.  Because, PEANUT IS HERE!!!!

On Valentine's Day, Hadley & Ryan became parents to a beautiful baby boy!  He is absolutely perfect!  I am so incredibly happy for them; it's going to be so awesome to meet the one and only baby Liam!  I can't believe I'm writing that...for so long, Peanut has been a mystery, with all of us wondering (and pretty much counting on intuition) if Peanut was indeed a boy or if we were all going to be thrown a whirl!  I just can't believe he's here!  I'm so anxious to hear about the moment mommy and daddy met their son for the first time; it makes my heart swell just thinking about it!  Eeps!  Such a wonderful Valentine's Day!
