Speaking of thinking local...

I was looking at things to do in the Napa area aside from the obvious, and I came across the Oxbow Public Market located in downtown Napa's Oxbow district.

It's been dubbed Napa's new food mecca by Food and Wine and I can't wait to check it out for myself when we are out there (in less than two months, and don't worry - I'll keep doing this).  Everything about this place is local - from the food and wine to the ice cream!  The brains behind the market is founder Steve Carlin, the man behind San Francisco's Ferry Building Market.  He took what once was a neglected downtown area and transformed it to this.  What a man, what a man, what a mighty good man.

Throughout the summer you can hit up farmer's markets on Tuesdays and Fridays.  There's a dance party every Friday, locals night on Tuesdays where area musicians can show off their talents and finally various merchant events (face painting, beers of the week, etc.).  It all sounds pretty dreamy, don't you think?

Napa Valley Guide

As I was sifting through my blog feeder, I stumbled upon this extraordinary post via Design*Sponge about Napa Valley!  For those of you who don't know me, I'm getting married out there in August and I couldn't be more excited!  We've been out there twice now and it is so gorgeous no matter what time of year you happen to go.  Head on over to Design Sponge and check out the Napa Native's guide to shopping, eating, lodging, site-seeing, and entertainment in the area.  There's not much on wine tasting but you don't so much need a guide for that - stumbling upon any winery out there will make for an excellent experience!

Also, in just 4 months to the day, I'll have a husband!

2010: The year of travel and love

This year has been declared the year of travel, the year of love, the year of happiness and new beginnings.

First up: California

San Francisco, Napa, Lake Tahoe all in one long weekend!

It will be fun, productive, romantic, adventurous and lovely all in one!

Next up (March): Austin, TX

Badger & the boys are playing SXSW again this year and I am going with them.  I went with them in 2007 and had a really great time.  So I'm pretty excited for this years adventure too!

Honeymoon: Italy

Since my mom bought us an Italy travel guide, I guess it's been finalized.  We're going to Italy!  I don't know when (obviously after August), I don't know if we can afford it (where there's a will there's a way) and I don't know how long we'll go (hopefully a long time).

Rumor has it, we may be traveling to Vegas for Badge's stepbrother's 21st birthday in November.  We'll see if we are traveled out or broke or what!

It's going to be a wonderful year!
