Thursday Loves

I've been so unbelievably happy ever since I heard the news yesterday.  Buzzfeed rounded up some of the best images and signs from outside the supreme court before and after the decision was made.  I'll admit, it makes me tear up to see all the happiness. Also, Wendy Davis, you're a real badass. Thank you for literally making a stand for women's rights.

This image of a mama and her baby makes me warm and fuzzy.  Wyatt and I have been enjoying each other lots and lots and I've been seizing every opportunity to get tons of snuggles and kisses in.  He's been following a pretty consistent schedule lately and has been doing really good at night.  The night before last, he slept 11 hours straight! I've studied up on some secrets (this blog is amazingly helpful for any of you with young babes) and we've finally established a nice rhythm.

Hello, flowy-easy-breezy Free People dress.  You are very lovely. I would love to travel on an amazing getaway with you in my suitcase.

The husband and I have committed to making over our screened-in porch and we're SO EXCITED! We've dropped some serious dough on amazing tile and we can't wait for it to come in so we can get started!  We ordered some terra cotta tile from Lowes and some specialty/decorative tile from a little store in our neighborhood.  Needless to say, it's going to be gorgeous.

Recently, I made a delicious cherry cobbler and it felt quintessential summer.  It reminded me of our last-minute camping trip to Michigan two years ago when we thought we were moving to Louisville but fate had a different timeline for us.  That was one fun mini-vacation.  We bought roadside cherries, camped in a beautiful forest, hiked the dunes and canoed.  Cherry cobblers are definitely a labor of love, well, making anything with fresh cherries is a tedious task.  But so very worth it!

Hope you all are having lovely weeks! It's almost Friday!

Friday's Fancies + Have a Jolly Weekend!

Happy Friday! Hooray for the weekend's arrival, hooray for holiday plans right around the corner and hooray for continued birthday celebrations.  The theme of Friday's Fancies this week seems only appropriate!  What are you all up to this weekend?  We're celebrating husband's birthday with family tomorrow night and Sunday we leave for a week long trip to Kansas.

I couldn't resist the urge to use the Free People Shimmy Shimmy Party dress since the theme of Friday's Fancies was Serious Sparkle.  Seriously, I want to own this dress and pretend to wear it (maybe I could next year?).  I'd love to pair it with navy pumps and red lipstick and whatever accessories tickled my fancy on that particular day/occasion.  Wouldn't it be fun to spin around in it?  Have you guys checked out Free People's dress selection lately? Holy shopping spree!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope you have a wonderful and jolly one.  Can you believe Christmas is less than 2 weeks away? Yowzas!

Holy wow. Is this for real?  My God, it's beautiful!  How can I get myself there right this second?  How?!

Just a little dose of "aww" for your Thursday.

I am really into this blouse by Free People - the colors, the print, the texture.  It's all perfect!

I'm not entirely sure how often my mom reads this blog of mine, but today I am hoping she is nowhere near it.  Instead of the usual bouquet of flowers I send her for mother's day (because I can never be in the same state as her for the special day), I opted to go the route of the adorably-packaged gift box.  Rachel of Elephantine and Mignon Kitchen Co. put together this amazing mother's day gift box - and when I saw it, I fell in love pretty quickly.  Wouldn't you love to receive something like this?! I hope my mom likes it as much as I do!  Be sure to visit the shop and show support for one of our own!

I'm such a sucker for porcelain bowls - especially of the soft, muted kind.  Etsy shop Urban Cartel has all kinds of goods to make my heart skip a beat - bowls, plates, vintage milk bottles.  Sigh...I want it all.

Thursday, randomly

Whoa.  Isn't this shot oh so lovely?  I'm...in love.

How awesome is this mid-century wooden table lamp? I think...I'm in love...with this as well.

My not-so-in-shape body really appreciates the high-waisted swim trend this year.  While I won't be ordering this Free People bikini, I'm totally into the idea of finding one similar.  Via

Oh.  Em.  Gee.  Whatever person builds something like this for a wee person deserves to have all the #1 dad/grandpa/grandma/mom/etc mugs there are in this world.  This is so unbelievably cool.  Via

Oh Flourishing Foodie, you know how to suck me in, every time.  And then you go and take a Sweetapolita cake and make it your own, thus making me even more of a fan.  I love it. So beautiful.

Don't forget to get your name in the Shabby Apple giveaway!  Happy Thursday, everyone!

Thursday's Randoms

Apple + Smoked Mozzarella Calzones? YES, PLEASE! These sound like the most delicious things ever. You probably don't even need desssert after snarfing down a meal like this.  That might be a lie though, you always need dessert.  Via here via Sprouted Kitchen

Today might be the perfect day to actually sit down and start learning how to embroider.  I have all the supplies but have not had the patience.  It's a cold, rainy day and I am not at work - so why not?  Via My Different Strokes

I love Pinterest for so many different reasons.  Seeing genius wrapping ideas such as this is just one of the many things that Pinterest does to spark my creativity.  Via here via Design Sponge

I am lusting over this dress hardcore, people.  With all its shine and beauty, what's not to love?  The color may not be that flattering on me, but that's ok. They have it in navy, too.  Oh Free People, I love you.

Can you imagine spotting a bearded fellow wearing this and not swooning?  That's just me?  Okay, whatevs.  But I would love to see my man walking around in this Mt. Rainier Design Inyo Jacket.  Too bad it'll never happen - the price tag is $685! And I thought North Face was pricey!

This is all my heart yearns to do - but alas, it is cold and rainy.  No autumn picnic in the works for me.  But perhaps this weekend I could make it happen.  I mean, afterall...a very sweet lady recently gifted me with a vintage picnic basket and a perfect plaid blanket.  It needs to happen!  Via

What's inspiring you today? And how have your weeks been?   I've got a free day today, so ready or not...here I come!

Thursday Randoms

This Free People Sleeveless Printed Tie Front Buttondown is making my heart all aflutter, with its pretty pattern and colors and especially their choice of pairing it with that skirt!

I'm also feeling quite smitten with this Hickory Pouch from Layerxlayer.  It's simple and refined - what more could you ask for in a pouch?   I'm also pretty into their other stuff, including the wayfarer pack.

Since I live in the land of bourbon now, what better way to celebrate it than to bake a bourbon peach hand pie?  This recipe from Smitten Kitchen has me drooling and craving and then repeating.

There's something about this bedroom that has me feeling soothed.  It must be the incredible natural light and the combination of that navajo blanket and plants.  I'd like to transport myself though, right away.

Last, I'm loving the idea of having turkish towels used throughout our new home.  There's just something about them that strikes me as lovely and I want an entire collection!  Via Etsy shop Turkish Towel (bonus, they are a retired couple!)

Australian Fashion Week

I'm loving these two snaps from Australian Fashion Week via Free People.  There is something about the first image that I find so extraordinary.  The braids, the shoulder art - I just want to copy it all!  And what's not to love about the second shot - her minty manicure, bright blue ring and orange dress paired with the neutral clutch is absolutely perfect!

Australian Fashion Week really gets overshadowed - if it weren't for following Free People on Facebook, or reading blogs like Audrey's, I probably wouldn't have even realized it was going on.  Sad, right?  Because there's so much good stuff happening there!

Wee People

How cute are these little fashionistas?  These furry boots really crack me up and the purple clogs really look as if she's playing dress up.  It's all so very cute and I adore the models!  Just another reason to love Free People!

Lusting for :: Free People

What I wouldn't do to get a Free People shopping spree.  I'm so. in. love.

Seriously, everything they carry is absolutely fabulous.

A few weeks ago, I actually took the time to sift through the jeans at a thrift store.  Time and patience is key because you know what I found? The perfect pair of Free People jeans!  For a mere $2! Unbelievable! *pats own back*
