So exciting!!

Last night, my parents and I purchased my dream wedding dress for 50% off the retail price!  What a dream come true!  We quickly left to go celebrate down the street with a bottle of Sonoma wine and delicious pasta.  I'm so blissful right now.  50% off, I just can't believe it!  Buying the sample gown seems to be the way to go.  It's so strange that it's just hanging in my closet.

On Saturday night, I surprised my parents with tickets to see Young Frankenstein at the Cadillac Palace Theater.  When my mom came with my niece last December, we managed to get some cheap tickets to take her to see Wicked.  We all three had so much fun that I thought, I should do it again!  I've really been wanting to see Young Frankenstein and I knew that my stepdad would be thrilled, knowing he's such a Mel Brooks fan.  Thrilled they were.

So so so good!  Go see it if you get the chance.  It's worth it!

Tonight my stepdad and I are looking forward to watching our first KU basketball game of the season.  They're # 1 and tonights game is a rematch of the 2008 championship game (the Jayhawks won in OT after Mario Chalmers hit the 3-pointer at the last second).  I'm pretty excited about it.  And tomorrow Badge comes home from his first business trip (haha).

Fall

My yoga teacher told me that since last year, he hasn't complained once about the weather. After we talked, it made perfect sense.

Fall is usually the hardest time of the year for me. But thanks to being a little more accepting, I'm enjoying fall this year more than ever.

There's beauty in all sorts of unexpected places, like outside my kitchen window...

(Overdue) Spookiness

So - I've been a little lax with blog posting recently, and sincerely apologize. I realized I had some things I wanted to share with you, and, well - better late than never, I say.

Halloween was low-key this year because I was sick and tired from traveling, but I did see some lovely spooky sights...

Bridesmaid Dress ideas

How do you ever decide?  There are so many things out there I love.  So many colors to choose from.  So many styles.  So many different opinions.  I can't even decide on all of my actual bridesmaids so how will I be able to decide on what dresses they should wear?!

I really love this idea of pairing super cute dresses with cowboy boots.

It's so cute though and so...me.  But not necessarily so Hans Fahden/wine country if you know what I mean.  But maybe I can draw inspiration from it.

The other look I have really grown to love is this:

Maybe it's because I have a huge girl crush on Rachel Bilson.  Maybe it's because it's a California wedding.  Maybe it's because they're carrying lavender, which is what I'm really into (Napa Valley is covered with lavendar).  Maybe it's because she is wearing my former dream dress.  Who knows.  But I love the varying shades of green for sure.

I've been scouring blogs in my down time and have yet to see any others that I am absolutely in love with.  HELP!  Ok, I still have plenty of time...but seriously, any suggestions?

Hello!

Hi all! (anyone?)  It's been awhile since I've posted anything.  Life has been strange and all over the place lately.  I've been sick (swine flu anyone?!) a few times, gone to see my family in Wichita and picking up the wedding planning.  In fact, I'm going to say YES to the dress on Monday!

I just wanted to say hi and to pass along this wonderful and delicious recipe.

We substituted peas for green peppers which ended up being mighty delicious.  We've been wondering what to do with that barley for the longest time, so I am pleased!

Tonight is another Mittens on Strings show at Schuba's. They play at 10 if you're interested...

Now for your entertainment:

My niece, Ally, was loving me with all her might!

So adorable!

Look at this!

I just had to post this NPR article because it's Halloween on Saturday and because this is just one hell of a medical mystery.

You can read the article here.  But take a look at this picture - it will surely get you to the article!

That's right, that's a GHOST in that man's BRAIN!

I love nataliedee.com.  Every time I visit the site I laugh uncontrollably.  This one here is pretty good:

Do you have any daily reads I should know about?

Random article to cheer me up on this gloomy day

Since I'm stuck in front of this computer all day long...I tend to read a lot more news than normal.  So when I hit up the entertainment section of the news this afternoon, I was pleasantly surprised to learn this:

I love Peggy Olsen on Mad Men and Fred Armisen is pretty funny most of the time.  I had no idea they were an item, let alone married!  According to New York Daily News, the two were hitched yesterday in New York.  I think it's cute!

In personal wedding-related news...we have a GroomsBort!  Hooray!

Oh. My. God.

The fashion world always has some doozies out there and there are a lot of bridal fashions that I really don't understand.  But this one, I especially just don't understand.  What do you think?

That one in the middle is especially um...how do you say it...awful?!  I mean, that gown ages her into making me think its time to go play shuffleboard before 4:30 p.m. dinner at the Old Town Buffet.  Will brides actually wear these gowns?!  SERIOUSLY??  Who knows, maybe on August 6, I'll surprise you all!
