On the Lake

When my friend showed me the photos of a college professor's recent wedding, I was immediately smitten. Every last bit of the wedding was incredible - from the bridesmaids' cowboy boots (hehe, personal favorite) the wedding party fireworks, the doggie ring bearers and the 4th of July-themed reception, I was sold. If only we could go back in time so I could attend this lovely wedding with what must certainly be a very lovely group of people. Photographer James Moes knows beauty when he sees it, don't you agree?
Turning art into fashion seems to be an absolute joy to me lately and I hope it resonates with all of you. If only everything in my life could be in such bold and distinguishable color.

Thursday's Randoms
This bedroom has left me completely inspired. There's something about the colors in here, the softness of it and that little pop of red. It just leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy and I want to model our bedroom around it completely. Luckily so does the hubs, so I think this may happen!
These Rachel Comey shoes (spotted during fashion week) have completely stolen my heart. I want them. Bad. Via Refinery 29
Today's weather has me all kinds of excited about this photo. We don't have our fireplace ready to go but clearly we need to get on top of that. I mean, it's 48 degrees outside and 65 in here! Is it too soon to have a fire inside?! Thanks to Martha, I want to.
I am also really wishing I could eat a slice of this strawberry dream cake right about now. It sounds so refreshing and delicious and it looks very pretty.
Last, these simple yet bold earrings from Kim Dulaney would make a perfect addition to my jewelry collection, don't you think? I mean, they would go with practically everything in my wardrobe!
What has your heart today? And thank you so much for sticking with me this week. Clearly, I've got today off. It's tough not being at a computer to pay attention to this blog throughout the day, and once I adjust to my new schedule you'll be hearing mofe from me. All I can say though is "what a week!" and by that it really means, "what a week of change!".
Be sure to enter the giveaway! You have until Sunday night at 10 pm eastern to enter. Good luck!

Gargyle
Today I'm wishing I could go on a shopping spree at Gargyle, a NYC boutique (on the lower east side) that carries brands such as Rachel Comey, Acne and Vena Cava, to name a few. They also have their own collection, showcased in the last image, with tops, sweaters and rain jackets to boot(s)...get it? While I'm not able to spend $650 for a dress that is not my wedding dress, I am coveting the looks from afar and thought you guys might, too. So anyone who wants to get me those Rachel Comey booties or oxfords, PLEASE, feel free!
Thursday's Randoms
I've been rather obsessed with Tory Burch lately, evidenced by my recent splurge (hey, I had a gift card and my cheapo sunnies broke after a year!) at Sunglass Hut. So when I saw these riding boots this morning, I fell in love.

I saw this image on my Pinterest this morning and immediately thought it would be terrific in that dream store of mine, as a display for stationary or something similar. Yesterday we stopped at a flea market in the middle of nowhere (thanks I-65 emergency closing) and saw tons of things like this that I wanted to snatch up, but unfortunately they were closing and we couldn't make a decision!

Speaking of awesome things for my dream store, aren't these wall decals used fabulously?! What a creative way to take an ordinary kitchen and spice it up a notch!
Will someone please buy me this black and white leather triangle tote from the ever awesome renneslechateau? Oh wait, it's sold :(
Since recreating our wedding cake, I've had an itch to bake more and more. It was difficult to make the cake, but challenging in all the right ways (the edible reward was pretty top notch, I must say). I want to get in there and challenge myself some more - and this time use food coloring to get an ombre look like this adorable cake.
Hope your weeks are fantastic so far!
BHLDN Beauties
I think it's obvious, but I love BHLDN. I have no reason to...I mean, I'm already married. However, if I could get married to David all over again, you better believe I'd go straight to BHLDN to get nearly everything!
I loved our wedding just the way it was - it was perfectly beautiful and very us. I loved my Lela Rose dress, I loved my jewelry and accessories and everything we picked out for the reception. So don't get me wrong! I just really also love these BHLDN beauties and all their charm and I'm pretty sure you guys do too :)
Hope your weeks are going swell. Go kiss your sweeties and please go hug your moms (mine needs about a thousand hugs right now)!

Lusting for :: Toast's Salt Water Sandals
These Salt Water sandals from Toast's spring collection had me at first sight. There's something about them that's fun and playful but also invokes memories of dressing up in my grandma's shoes when I was little. I think that's why I adore them so.
I'm itching for spring so badly and these 45 degree days we're having are only making it worse. I'm enjoying the weather, I really am. I've been wearing my jacket instead of my coat and even went for a brief jog yesterday (I can't jog). But I know it's only a tease. I mean, it is still mid-February and this is Chicago so it's only a matter of time until we're back to the brutality of winter, right? Hopefully I'm wrong. Because I really want to step outside in some sandals, like these from Toast as soon as possible. Oh to walk around in them right now without slush getting all over my feet! Sigh.
I definitely reached the point where winter has completely worn out its welcome. I need it to be spring!
What are you talking a boot?
I love my winter boots but there's just something so exciting about getting a new pair. I don't think I'll be getting any this year but if I were to get some, I'd consider these, all under $100 ::
1. ASOS Aiden Leather Lace Up Brogue Boots
2. Urban Outfitters BDG Hiker Boot
3. Blowfish Walsh over the knee cut boot
4. Ruche Western Sunset Cowboy boots
PS - sorry for the bad title, I couldn't help myself...

Lusting for :: Osborn Shoes
Osborn Shoes was founded by Aaron Osborn who happened to meet an unemployed cobbler while doing charity work in Guatemala. A group of talented artisans make up the company, having set up shop in the volcanic mountains outside of Guatemala City. The workshop is by no means a sweatshop, each shoe is a piece of art, crafted by its maker. How awesome is that? Would you wear these shoes? I really want that first pair, it just screams Mo don't you think?

If I were given a thousand dollars to spend on clothes and shoes, I would definitely buy these items from Creatures of Comfort. This new-to-me store is pretty awesome, but I hate when I fall in love with a boutique that I could never afford. That dress and skirt scream fall to me and make me want to roll around in a pile of leaves and sip hot chocolate (with rum of course) after. Those Rachel Comey clogs are every bit of perfection. I tried to find a pair of clogs or oxfords or something along these lines in Italy but nothing measured up to my supposedly high expectations. But now that I'm back in the states and don't have the excuse of splurging on some Italian shoe or piece of clothing, I'm just back to lusting for and thought you should all be aware.
