Thursday Loves

I am pretty hungry right now and the thought of eating this is making me mad! Mad for eggs, that is. Via

Last night we caught the opening monologue of Conan for the first time in ages and I am still laughing about this. Nick Offerman (the beloved Ron Swanson) read young female celebrity tweets while working in his shop.  That was all it was and it was awesome.  Definitely the only rewarding bit of Conan last night, in our opinion.

You may have seen this floating around the interwebs lately, but I find it to be NUTS!  Artist Bryan Saunders Lewis took every drug known to man (though most of these seem to be medications than street drugs) and drew a self portrait while under the influence.  It's fascinating, I tell you, and definitely worrisome.  We as a nation are prescribed these medications every day...and these are the portrayals! Yikes!  Source

I desperately wish this was me this weekend.  Alas, I'll be home alone with no plans of putting my feet in water and letting the waves crash over them.  Alas.  Via

I literally love everything about this image.  Seriously.  That is all.  Via

Hope you all have are having a lovely Thursday (and week).  Only one more day until the long weekend!

Yee-Haw!

I feel like I talk about biscuits and gravy a lot on this blog of mine, so when I stumbled across this amazing print, I had to share.  I think I need it.  Because it totally rules.  Yee-haw Industries, baby!

I love how these "dwarf guards" really cater to my love of gnomes.  I think every house should have one or all of these, don't you?

Can't stop laughing over this one...

It's reasons like this that make me wish there was an Urban Outfitters here in Louisville.  Most days I really don't care, but when I see a pretty red sweater with elbow patches on it that won't completely break the bank, I get a little sad.  Thank goodness for the internet, right?  PS - it comes in navy as well!

Hello, beautiful DIY project!  What a great way to arrange some frames.  I'll have to keep this in mind when we go to put ours all up.

The Pioneer Woman made Indian fry bread and Indian tacos and I am feeling quite nostalgic.  You see, growing up, kids in Wichita, KS would always get to visit the Indian Center.  It was a given that you would eat their incredible tacos while you were there, and it made for the best of times.  So naturally I'm pretty pumped over her post on how to do this.  With fake ground beef, of course :)

Oh how I am in love with this terrarium and its eccentricity.  The billy buttons are the perfect touch!  Be sure to check out other arrangements from Etsy shop Sea and Asters.

This bedroom has left me completely inspired.  There's something about the colors in here, the softness of it and that little pop of red.  It just leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy and I want to model our bedroom around it completely.  Luckily so does the hubs, so I think this may happen!

I've been laughing pretty hard over this one.  People are so creative - and I love a good pun, especially when paired with amazing illustration.   Via Paper Parasol

These Rachel Comey shoes (spotted during fashion week) have completely stolen my heart.   I want them.  Bad. Via Refinery 29

Today's weather has me all kinds of excited about this photo.  We don't have our fireplace ready to go but clearly we need to get on top of that.  I mean, it's 48 degrees outside and 65 in here! Is it too soon to have a fire inside?!  Thanks to Martha, I want to.

I am also really wishing I could eat a slice of this strawberry dream cake right about now.  It sounds so refreshing and delicious and it looks very pretty.

Last, these simple yet bold earrings from Kim Dulaney would make a perfect addition to my jewelry collection, don't you think?  I mean, they would go with practically everything in my wardrobe!

What has your heart today? And thank you so much for sticking with me this week.  Clearly, I've got today off.  It's tough not being at a computer to pay attention to this blog throughout the day, and once I adjust to my new schedule you'll be hearing mofe from me.  All I can say though is "what a week!" and by that it really means, "what a week of change!".

Be sure to enter the giveaway!  You have until Sunday night at 10 pm eastern to enter.  Good luck!

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this.

Betty White on SNL

Did any of you happen to catch Betty White on SNL?  I'm sure you did...wasn't it the funniest episode you've seen in ages?!  She was hilarious - I laughed so hard my stomach hurt!  It was an epic episode and if you haven't seen it yet, queue it up here.

I'm just waiting for the iPantyLiner...

We've all made the obvious joke about the iPad.  Hell, MadTV was all over this thing YEARS ago. But I am baffled, maybe a little appalled, a little humored, and a dash mystified about this literal translation.  It's called the iMaxi iPad case.  Would you sport this?  Would you laugh uncontrollably if you saw someone on the El pulling this out of their bag?  Me thinks I would have no choice but to do just that.  What would we do without Etsy?

I'm back!

Hi everyone, I'm finally back to the windy city and I have very mixed emotions about it.  When I left, it was beautiful.  Now that I'm back, it's not as beautiful.  What gives?  What did I ever do to you, Chicago?

I had a great time down in Austin.  It's a great city with great people and lots of excitement.  A lot of fun was had, a lot of music was heard and a lot of pizza was consumed.

A ton of SXSW-related posts will come in due time, don't you worry.  But I must say, I had such a wonderful time and I love my friends so much.  My favorite moment of the entire trip was on Friday night, hanging out on our friends porch, drinking beer.  We were getting ready to go watch a show at this house party and we had spent the whole day at the French Legation just drinking and listening to good bands play in the sun.  Our friend Alex makes these shirts for Mittens on Strings and they are fantastic.  He sometimes does a raffle at their shows and gives away these "one of a kind, mildly amazing t-shirts" to lucky winners.  Our friend Nathan was the raffle winner and so Alex decided to pull out every single shirt from the inventory and explain them all so Nathan could choose the best one.  Let me just say, it was the most hilarious 20 minutes.

See, this is an animal having a really great dream.  But thatt animal is dreaming about not another animal, but that really great smell that animals love.  This, I never knew before!

No explanation necessary.

Three lonely birds.  Always have to work and never play.  That's why they're going on vacation, taking some time off and relaxing.   Going inside to stay.

It was a great time and I'm sad to be back to reality!  More to come!

Funny

No seriously, it is.  Just watch and let me know if you agree (or not).

I actually am really enjoying this season of SNL (obviously).

Even pooches are hipsters

Has anyone seen this website?  It's one of my new favorites, for sure.  It's along the lines of FU Penguin only it appears to be updated a little more on the frequent side, which I appreciate.

Tell me that doesn't resemble someone you know!  The caption reads: "for Tillie, having a Mad Men premiere means dressing up, drinking Manhattans and being totally insufferable."

"Popeye insists he doesn't have 'a thing for Asian girls' even though his last four girlfriends have been Pekingese."

"Leila ruined the cupcake decorating party after telling the story about how she hooked up with Calvin Johnson."

"Hugo asks you to please be careful, that's a first edition Nabokov."

I could spend hours on this site if I hadn't already read it in its entirety!  So funny!

Pillow Talk

Some of us might have caught our other halves/bed buddies talking in their sleep. But what do you do if you live with a dude who gives you a nightly commentary of weird and wonderful chatter? Blog about it, of course!

No, it's not my Bort. But another English lady tape record's her husband's comments and posts them for our delight on Sleep Talkin' Man.

You need to check this out, but here are some of my favourites:

"You can't be a pirate if you don't have a beard. I said so. MY boat, MY rules."

"Legs time! Everybody get your legs!"

"Don't... Don't put the noodles and the dumplings together in the boat. They'll fight! The noodles are bullies. Poor dumplings."
