Color Crush :: Linden Green

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

Fall is right around the corner (what?!) so I was perusing the color trends and immediately fell in love.  I've always been fond of the mustard yellows and army greens and this shade seems to be a perfect fusion of the two.  What do you think, will you be sporting this hue when the air turns crisp?

P.S. - today is our third wedding anniversary!  The time really flies when you're in love.

Weekend Recap + Something Special

What a weekend it was!  Needless to say, I am EXHAUSTED from all the craziness the weekend brought.  Family is great.  Family visits in the summer are really great! Some highlights of the weekend include ::

  • Friday night welcome, grilled dinner, hanging out and lots of love
  • After a lazy start to the day, we spent the afternoon switching between the pool and the hot tub (the threat of rain cooled things off enough).  It was a ton of fun and it really wore the kids out (and by kids I mean me, it definitely wore me out).
  • Board games and Olympics on a Saturday night.  Awesome!
  • Sunday trip to Cincinnati - my family is pretty big into baseball so we journeyed to Ohio to catch a Reds game.  It was fun, we ate hot dogs/veggie dogs/nachos/cotton candy/dippin' dots, etc.  That was between all 7 of us, btw ;)
  • Chinese food and Olympics.  We were all so tired after sitting in the sun all afternoon, with the exception of the occasional downpour at the stadium, so we pretty much just stared at the tv until it was time for bed.  Unfortunately, our hearts broke after seeing McKayla Maroney's disappointing landing which cost her the medal she really deserved.  Poor girl.

Obviously it was a pretty great weekend and I'm not ready for it to be over! We're all so tired - even Stevie is utterly exhausted!

And guess what today is?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Two years ago I married my favorite person in the world and two years later we're as happy as can be.  I love you, husbadge, to the moon and back.  ♥

Friday's Fancies + Have a Dazzling Weekend!

Friday's Fancies Oscars Edition

1. Monique Lhuillier Dress // 2. Zarb champagne // 3. Michael Kors Leg Shine // 4. Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick // 5. Jimmy Choo clutch // 6. Kimberly McDonald stud earrings // 7.  Christian Louboutin Lady Peep pumps

Happy Friday, friends!  This week's Friday's Fancies post is dedicated to all the red-carpet excitement that is coming up on Sunday!  It's crazy that it's already time for the Oscars again.  I can't wait to see how everyone is dressed and whether or not the wins are exciting.  All of this red carpet talk is totally putting me in the mood for some champagne!  Naturally, I couldn't leave it off the list.

I would feel oh-so-glam in this Monique Lhullier dress.  Even though the length is not quite Oscar appropriate, it's still a dazzler and I would love every last minute wearing it.  The stud earrings would be a dream come true to wear and let's not forget the importance of leg shine, right?

What have you planned for this final weekend of February?  Our spring-like weather is gone (in the blink of an eye, basically) so we can put our focus back on our indoor projects.  The wainscot is officially up but he ran out of glue so the project isn't 100% yet.  Hopefully I'll be telling you it IS complete come Monday.  Our dating anniversary is tomorrow (hooray!) so we'll surely be dining out somewhere nice and treating ourselves to some good old fashioned romance.  Last, we've decided it's time to finally invest in a second car (it's difficult in a sprawling city versus one where you can get what you need on foot or by train).  I am pretty sure test-driving is on the docket for the weekend as well.  How exciting!

Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope it's marvelous.  Until Monday! xoxo

Together We Shall Go Until We Die

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

Just a little romance for your Tuesday viewing pleasure.  6 years ago, my heart started going pit-er-pat just thinking about a certain something, someone, slowly making its/his way into my life.

I love the way I feel when I reminisce about the time leading up to our first kiss.  Those butterflies that make your stomach ache with excitement and anticipation come rushing back every time.

I knew he was something special from the beginning.  I knew he wasn't going anywhere.  I just knew.

6 years ago my life completely changed; I had met my better half.  And I have cherished every day since.

Weekend Recap

Sorry for the belated post my friends - but it has been one very busy day.  I've been up since 4:30 and I'm feeling like I should have called it a night hours ago, but the evening has only just begun!

This weekend was pretty wonderful, to say the least.  We celebrated our anniversary the best way imaginable for our lives at this moment of time and my goodness the cake was good.  Some highlights include ::

  • First Friday's along Market - we may not have actually seen any art but we had a great time drinking....
  • Saturday brunch at Anchorage Cafe/2 mile walk along the most beautiful of trails - I seriously feel so lucky to be able to hop on that trail any time I want.  The first time I went I had a staring contest with a deer!
  • Baking, baking, baking!  I made a rather delicious recreation of our wedding cake that included fresh berries, custard and the best ever homemade buttercream frosting.  I finally got to break in our mixer (that my mom gave us as a wedding present) and it felt so nice to bake in our kitchen and have all that counter space.
  • Drinking our wine + champagne
  • Eating dinner/dessert in our screened-in porch (which includes a ceiling fan to keep cool, phew)
  • Relaxing + watching You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger (pretty good movie)
  • Sunday homemade brunch (poached eggs + hollandaise sauce + toast + hash browns)
  • Home Depot trip to buy various things but also to buy lumber to make a sweet coffee table
  • Hangin' + chillin' with awesome people

What did all of you get up to this weekend?  Something extraordinary, I hope!  Happy Monday, friends!

PS - THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the very sweet comments and congratulations about our anniversary! You guys are totally the best.

My heart is going pit-er-pat!  Happy anniversary, my love.  I'm so glad you spilled beer on me that one night so many years ago.

Feeling the Love

Since Saturday is our first wedding anniversary (eeps!) I wanted to sort of dedicate this week to the special occasion.   I can't believe an entire year has passed - it's both incredibly exciting and sort of sad!  Sad because it means it's been a year since we've been in Napa, had both our families together and camped with our friends at Point Reyes.  Sad because I don't think we're considered newlyweds any longer (but that's ok).  But it's mostly very exciting :)

Since we just bought this awesome house, we're not exchanging gifts on Saturday.  After all, the paper part of the anniversary really is the deed to our house.  Perfect, right?  So since we have had a crazy last month and a half, I think we'll be spending the day recreating our cake, drinking champagne and being all lovey-dovey at home.  Sounds good to me.

We didn't save the top of our cake.  Not only were we in California for the wedding but it just kind of grosses me out to freeze something and eat it a year later.  So we opted to recreate our cake instead!

It was the best tasting wedding cake ever.  While the design didn't quite turn out like I wanted (they just didn't understand me at the bakery!) and they didn't transfer the cake onto the tree log cake stand like I insisted (that still bothers me) it was still the most delicious and appreciated cake in wedding history.  No joke.  That little cake topper was made by our friend and best man, Alex and we've had it on display ever since.  I can't wait to get in the kitchen and bake my first cake since moving in.  It's a silver cake with custard and fresh berries with a buttercream frosting.  Should be easy enough, right?

We've got several bottles of our wedding wine leftover that we've been saving for special occasions such as this.  It's a vintage mountain cuvee from 2000 that tastes dreamy and when you pop the cork, the aroma of the wine takes me right back to the special day!  We also plan to pop open the Mumm champagne we served as well, but that goes without saying!

Even though we won't be exchanging gifts, I'd love to copy these ideas to have something in the years to come.  A picture within a picture seems like a really fun idea and it's pretty easy to make that happen.

Last, I can't wait to go through our "guest book" and all the cards we were sent and feel my heart swell from all the love.

I want to thank each and everyone of you who had a helping hand in our big day.  Even if you weren't actually at the wedding - so many of you lovely readers of mine helped me plan and prepare and left me full of more excitement than I ever thought possible!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Weekend Recap

The weekend flew by, no thanks to all the fun that was had.  Going down to Kentucky lake with the fam is always a fun time and we always come home with really great stories.  This time was no exception!  Some highlights include ::

  • Boat time Friday - Miller Lites and snacks
  • Swimming and trying to do some water aerobics to burn off the beer calories!
  • Laughing hysterically
  • Boat time Saturday - I think we must have spent an entire work day out there
  • Fat Daddy's - hoo boy, this "classy" joint is interesting.  I've been several times and each time it amazes me...in the weirdest ways.
  • More swimming, more laughing, more Millers
  • Liar's Dice
  • Making it back to Louisville before lunch
  • Making my mom laugh on the phone - very important

See? It was a pretty good weekend, despite something that happened from afar.   There was a death in my side of the family over the weekend that has left me a mixed bag of emotions.  It's all good though, I promise you.

Here's hoping this week is a good one.  It should be nothing but romantic for us as our first wedding anniversary is on Saturday! And I just want to also say happy anniversary to my most favoritest Anna-Maria and Bort!  Their beautiful wedding was two years ago today and I still feel warm and fuzzy just reflecting on that day!  Here's to many more happy years!!

Have a happy weekend!

I've been looking forward to this weekend for awhile now.  It's the first one in awhile that we're actually staying in town!  I know that a certain someone could really use the rest and relaxation after a hard few weeks of work and travel.   Tonight, to celebrate our dating anniversary, we're going to the Joffrey Ballet!  We're seeing A Merry Widow (not the best title to pick considering we're celebrating a happy relationship) and I'm very much looking forward to it.  Afterwards, we'll get some late dinner and drinks and have a merry evening together.  The rest of the weekend is up in the air, just the way we hoped.  I'm excited to see some glitz and glamour on Sunday evening, how about you! What are your big plans?  Whatever they are, I hope your weekend is full of happiness!

Five Years!

Five years ago, the love of my life kissed me for the first time.

It also means that we got engaged 2 years ago!

Here's to many, many, many more kisses!  Happy anniversary (or "faux" anniversary as he has started calling it)!

Happy Annivesary, Bitchka!

Today is our 4-year anniversary.  I can't believe how fast the time has flown.
