Guest post :: Danielle of Breakfast at Toast
Hi. Danielle at Breakfast at Toast here! I am so excited that Meagan asked me to guest post on her blog today! Thank you, Meagan!
I moved from LA to Chicago on August 1st, 2010. I met Meagan in May {and in case you were wondering... yes, she is as sweet as you would imagine her to be.}. Since she is leaving Chicago I have decided to do a little ode to some of the most beautiful sites in this very beautiful city.

the ferris wheel at navy pier

view from the ferris wheel. gorgeous!

view from the water

love how the water + sky reflect off the buildings
an authentic midwest farmer's market. there's nothing like it.
{at least not for this california girl}

the beloved bean {aka cloud gate}

the pup is doing lots of this

because it won't be long before he looks like this
he couldn't get over the shock + horror of the snow

i took it a little better than he did.
I also wanted to take a moment to mention Sun Savvy. Early this month I had a mole removed and wrote a story about it on my blog. Alison of Long Distance Loving left a comment, I emailed her, we chatted and Sun Savvy was born. I would love it if you would all stop by, read a little about us + sign our pledge for sun safety!
Meagan, you will be missed in Chicago but I am so excited for this next chapter of your life. I know we will keep in touch and am looking forward to reading about the move on your blog! For more of my adventures in Chicago {+ some in LA, too} and daily posts on fashion, decor + everything that inspires me, please visit Breakfast at Toast.

Polaroids
Last night, I had a dream about an art show. I was a photographer in this dream and I had already taken some incredible "polaroids" with my Fuji Instax Instant Camera. They were full of bright colors and the shots were perfectly set up. I had been given an assignment in which I was required to photograph some buildings from the ocean (what?), in which case I promptly dropped my camera in the water. Now I'm not sure what my dream means or anything but as weird as it was, I woke up feeling oddly inspired to take loads of polaroids. So I think I'll try to do that. Does this ever happen to you?

When I saw these photos on Life.com, I had to share them with all of you. Since I've got a touch of puppy fever, I appreciate them more than ever! There's something so amazing about we humans and our pets - the bond that we share. As I type this, Gus is snuggled up on my legs, where he's been for the last 45 minutes. I love having a furry companion and can't wait to adopt a new four-legged member to this Badger family in the near future! Perhaps in 50 years, future bloggers will be able to post pictures of Mo Pie and her dog...
Brrr!
The temps have taken a plummet here in Chicago so I'm doing my best to stay warm. Luckily I'm not forced to go outside every day unlike most of you (sorry) so I can sit inside under a blanket with the warmth of my Christmas tree to help. But I thought I would share some pictures that keep me warm and make me happy. Here's to a delightfully warm Tuesday!
twinkle!; yarn; knit star; hot buttered rum
Scenes from yesterday
Yesterday, I decided to take a walk around my neighborhood to enjoy the last few remaining warm days until spring. Seriously, it's been warm here in Chicago as of late.
I got a new app on my phone called FXCamera and I love all of the features. I set it to random for the toy camera mode and it resulted in some pretty cool pics! I love the view of the sky from my window - I took those photos around 3:45. It gets dark way too early now for my enjoyment but at least the sunset has been pretty.
Just thought I'd share these with you. Hope you're all enjoying your Fridays!
Nan Lawson Photography
I know you all have heard of the name Nan Lawson by now. If you haven't, get over to her website or Etsy shop and check out her cuter-than-cute illustrations. I had her whip up a illustration of my little family as a gift for my huz back in April. It's adorable and we get many compliments on it all the time!
I feel like Nan's photography skills might be overshadowed by her awesome illustrations, so today I want to share them with you. What's wrong with a little eye candy for your Tuesday mornings?! The colors in her photographs are so vivid and beautiful and if there was a way to wear photographs, I'd be all over these (or rather, they'd be all over me).
Enjoy!
PS - Nan started an interior design blog called Little Home, check it out!

America in color
I know many of you have already posted about these amazing images from the Library of Congress, but I can't help but feel the need to share some of my favorites from the collection. The photographs depict rural America and the effects of the depression.
Aren't they just amazing? They look exactly how I wish I could take photographs now. And most of these are from 1940 - 1942. I can lose and have lost many hours looking at these.

Three Weeks!
Only 3 weeks remain until it's a done deal and I am feeling more excited than ever. 3 weeks flies by...so in no time, I'll be unemployed (yay!), in California (double yay!) and getting married (hooray!). Whew! So in honor of the upcoming nuptials, I'm sharing with you today this absolutly lovely wedding from Our Labor of Love (there isn't a photo on there that I don't like, honestly).
Adam Jordan and Jordan Kaltwasser were married recently outside of Memphis, TN...during a tornado. And, Jordan took his last name. Read more about it here - I really want to be friends with this couple!

Dose of Tuesday Prettiness

I came across Alicia Bock's website a few days ago and thought I'd share some of her lovely photography.
And her pictures of Chicago made me appreciate a side of the city I don't usually see.

Oh, and vintage-style shots of Spring flowers!
