Friday's Fancies + Have an Endearing Weekend!

tee // shorts // studs // sandals

Happy Friday, errbody!  I'm so so so excited that it's the weekend because by the end of today, I'll be reunited with family! It's been so long since I've seen my nieces and nephew, and it's been even longer since I've seen my parents.  They're staying through Tuesday and it's official - we're going to have an awesome time together.  On the agenda? Swimming, a Cincinnati Reds game, board games, ice cream, Olympics and lots of laughs.

This week's Friday's Fancies is basically me to a T.  T-shirts being the theme, it couldn't be more apt for my definitive summer wardrobe.  I've been sporting a lot of solid t-shirts with colored shorts and sandals.  What about you? What has been your summer wardrobe?

What have you planned this weekend? Something wonderful, I hope!  Here's to lots of love this weekend :)

Friday's Fancies + Have a Happy Weekend

blouse // jeans // flats // bag // earrings // umbrella

Happy Friday, everybody!  What a week it's been.  We've had a really great friend in town for the last few days and thus have been having tons of good times.  We're actually bidding him farewell at this exact moment - hence the delayed post and short one, at that.

Today's Friday's Fancies centers around {av}'s oh-so-awesome Euro Trip she is currently enjoying.  If I were in Europe, I'd try to be dressed as classy as possible with things packed in my overly-large bag that may come in handy (perhaps more comfy shoes as the day wears on? the umbrella for inevitable rain, a translator, etc.).  If only I really were traipsing about my favorite continent (so far) to vacation in.

What are you up to this weekend? We'll be dining with husband's grandma tomorrow, repositioning our garden (hooray for rain but whoa, we have some work to do now!) and hopefully adding some fun stuff in between.  Whatever you get up to this weekend, I hope you have a fantastic time!  Until Monday...

Thursday Loves

So, so true.  Every day mantra!  Via

I think I need to have these hummus melts ASAP! How delicious and pretty nutritious! Via

YES dress, I love you.  Won't you be mine?

The color combination in this home is incredible.  And it turns out, that is basically the same color of pale green that we have in our bedroom.  I am sensing some serious inspiration!  Via

I wish I knew where to go to end up in the navajo flea market.  Anybody know how and where?! Via

What's inspiring you today?

I could stare at this porch for hours.  Hopefully while wearing this ensemble, no?

Thursday Loves

Today I am loving this Inessa dress from Garnet Hill.  Although I'm pretty sure that it only looks good on people of this model's stature.  I would look frumpy, yes, but it still doesn't stop me from liking it!

This whole package just leaves me delighted.  Excellent branding, I say.  And what guy wouldn't look dapper while sporting this tie?  Well done, Stalward.  Too bad it's sold out.

Everything in this image leaves me feeling so relaxed.  The bench is gorgeous, the basket is adorable, surely that rug peeping out is amazing, the towels are so perfectly folded and such a crisp white and the pottery in the window is perfect.  Via

This Star-Spangled Shortcake from Martha Stewart looks scrumdiddlyumptious.  So fresh and surely amazing with every single bite.

Artwork from Slovakia which pays tribute to all the wild women / men inside us.  I simply can't get enough.  Be sure to check out EmeraldSnow on Etsy for more awesomeness.

Dreaming in Color :: Mint Chocolate Chip

One of my favorite color combinations + one of my most favoritest dessert combinations = a beautiful ensemble of attire, if I do say so.  I'm pretty sure I need a pair of white skinny jeans just so I can pair them with a lovely mint top.  And oh how I long for those DVF sandals...swoon!

Etsy find :: Sophia Clothing

I'm feeling rather smitten with today's Etsy find - Sophia Clothing.  Designer Sophia Zhang has been making clothes for 15 years - and you can definitely tell.  Her outfits are unique and look very well made, don't you think? I could stand to switch a few of the stylings - for instance, get rid of the flip flops! They're in every summery outfit it seems.

What do you think? Do you ever support designers such as Sophia?

Friday's Fancies + Have a Festive Weekend!

Holiday Party Time

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Happy Friday, everyone! While I may not be going to a holiday party this weekend (it's NEXT weekend) I still couldn't resist taking part in this week's Friday's Fancies theme - Holiday Party!  I've really got in the Christmas spirit again this year and have been anticipating the events coming up.  If money were no object, I'd totally sport this look (along with some black tights and a dressy coat).  It's not too dressy and not too casual - so perfect for the occasion.

What are your plans this weekend?  We're hopefully getting together tomorrow night with friends to celebrate the mister's birthday a few days early - he turns 3-0 on Tuesday!  Other than that, we'll see where it takes us.  Whatever you get up to, I hope you have an excellent weekend!

Thursday's Randoms

I'm finding it hard to believe it's December 1st today.  But I'll get over my disbelief and will quickly get into full on holiday mode.  I'm thinking today, my day off, is the perfect day to make the husband go pick out a Christmas tree and outdoor lights.  Don't you agree?!

Thinking about copying this idea somewhere in the home.  I mean, what a big impact for such a little price.  They make it look so chic!

My goodness this looks good.  I mean, really, really good.  Hey, I got some new nikes the other day, I'm bundling up and hitting the trail so I think I could have a similar version of this today, right?

So, husband and I are in the process of finding the perfect doggie to add to our family.  We've been sold on German Shepherds for awhile now because of their intelligence and beauty, but we've had some mixed reactions when telling people that's what we want.  Then my coworker told me a story about her sister's dog being mauled to death by the neighbor's GS and well...now I'm not so sure what to do.  Last night we found Maddie here, who is described as one of the sweetest dogs around.  She's at a foster home in Lexington and you can read some more about her here.  I think she's beautiful and by the description, she sounds pretty perfect for us.  But we're hesitant.  What do you think? Any thoughts on German Shepherds?  I could just really use some advice!  Our other option is going to the humane society and checking out some adorable border collie pups they've got.  Eeps!  But that means housetraining, ick.  Minka Maddie (oops, I keep getting her confused with another GS named Minka) is already trained!

This dress needs to be in my closet as a winter staple.  I love the cut and the print both!

Last, don't forget to enter the Marissa B. giveaway! She is graciously giving away a pair of her crystal pom pom earrings in chrome - perfect for the holiday season!  I think they're so beautiful and would look lovely on all of you!

Happy December, everyone!

Short Story

1. Hache Linen Shorts - $230
2. Stone Linen Shorts - $60
3. Otis Short - $73
4. Zoe Tee's shorts - $180
5. Tab Detail Button Shorts - $50
6. Gray Stripe Linen Shorts - $53

I've always loved wearing shorts, mainly because my legs have always been my favorite body part to expose in the warmer months.  My upper half is larger than my lower half, so I feel most comfortable wearing shorts and 3/4 length sleeves in the summer than I do wearing a tank top and jeans.  I guess that's also why I love wearing dresses in the summertime, too.  With the weather warming up, it's time to get the legs in shape for summer wear and what better motivation than to eye some amazing shorts!? I love how many variations there are for shorts this year, whether it be the classic denim (with a chambray twist), bold, bright patterns and colors or simple, soft neutrals.  Which do you prefer?  I've never ventured too far away from the classic denim, but this year I may have to be adventurous!

Virginia Johnson

Loving the prints on these Virginia Johnson pieces.  So colorful, fun and perfect for the warmer weather.

Lusting for :: Suno

Just some bright pieces to admire from Suno, a Kenyan-inspired brand based out of New York City.  I love all the prints, especially since the textiles were collected from visits to Kenya but also that the brand employs local Kenyan talent.

Mad for triangles

Triangles, triangles, triangles! I can't seem to get enough of them - they're popping up everywhere and have been for awhile now.  Isn't it amazing how such a simple, standard shape can look so neat in so many different ways?  From quilts, to jewelry to clothing - it's a design trend that I can't get enough of.

I'm seriously lusting after the mod triangle walls - how fun would it be to stencil a room in this pattern?

PS - My lovely sister-in-law's shop The Big Harumph will be giving away two prints to a lucky fan on Facebook when she reaches 250 fans.  Why not 'like' her shop on Facebook for a chance to win?!

Etsy love, continued...

As a girl madly in love with a (david) Badger, I find this t-shirt irresistable.  Especially the description:

"Mr. Badger is a very refined gentleman.  As you can see he is not about parading himself in the nude like his other animal on bike counterparts.  He is well-dressed, well-topped, and ready for anything on his fine penny-farthing bicycle."

I'm sold.

My niece would look so so cool in this t-rex on a bike t-shirt.  And look, he's nude!

"The underwater emissions were becoming of concern for sea predators so this one decided to stop fussing and start a revolution."

That's one smart shark.

You can find these lovely t-shirts via Etsy at dark cycle clothing

Me&oli

What a great etsy store I was introduced to thanks to I Am A Greedy Girl (if you start reading this blog, you'll want so many things).  Just look at these goodies!

This necklace is so fun and unique.  I love the clouds!

Look at how amazing that is...

I love the fox print.  The dress is a play on the fable "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". If only I were able to buy anything my heart swooned for.

And did you guys get a load of that baby?  Talk about the cutest thing ever!

Ikat = Iwant

So I guess I'm a little behind on this Ikat craze, but that's ok with me.  I've been reading blog after blog after blog featuring amazing ikat prints or bags or shoes, etc. and I quite frankly can't get enough!  The ever trusty Design*Sponge already had it covered...in December '08...and yet it all looks so fresh and appealing.  I'll have it all, please!

I mostly love the fabrics and want to reupholster anything and everything.  I want pillows and blankets and ottomons and purses and dresses and, well you get the picture.

I'll take this dress

I'll also take this Felix Ray clutch

And if you're feeling extremely generous, you can throw this ikat ottomon in as well, I won't mind!
