Teepee, Teepee

I couldn't resist sharing these stunning teepee's with all of you today.  Not only are they incredibly aesthetically pleasing, but they're incredibly functional!  And just look at all the creative ways they've been made, used and styled!

My favorite one is the cat one, because I dream of having toys for Gus that aren't huge eyesores.  For instance, I'm staring at his collapsable "sport dome" thing, covered in hair and looking rather worse for wear.  It's ugly, but he really loves it.  I just know that if I were to get him this teepee, it would only be for me (kind of like that cat bed that's so cute and the chicken hat he's worn for 5 minutes total in the 3 years we've had it) but maybe that would be okay because friends, I love it.

I want to build a teepee in our backyard and lay in it and read good books.  With twinkly lights and some wine.

I want to go back in time and have a teepee in my house growing up, so my brother and I could crawl in there and live in it, as opposed to our furniture and sheet forts.  Kids these days, so lucky.  Oh and hey, did you see the red and blue-gray?!  Yeah? Yeah??

Would you have a teepee in your house or yard?

when i was little (and now still) i was obsessed with anything native american - i was pocahontas for halloween a bunch of times and went to powwows and dreamt of finding an ancestor chief! so YES i would adore a teepee at our house!

i love the idea of a teepee but not the racial connotations that they bring to mind while looking at them! it's hard to separate!

I don't think I would right now but when I get some grandchildren I'll be all over it. There is something to be said for building your own forts out of sheets though, fun childhood memories for me :)

Oh if only you lived closer I would indeed take you up on the chair offer!

Yes, I would love a teepee someday. These are so charming!

How fun! My childhood friend had one growing up and it completely changed everything we did. Suddenly the world was a much more fun place. I have a feeling it would have the same effect today.

oh my goodness, YES!!! these are too cute. i have twelve indoor/outdoor cats and had been thinking of building them a miniature shtetl in the backyard of my suburban home, but you make me want to consider remodeling it as a native american village instead! so inspirational!

I love the idea of having one in a childs room or nursery, stimulates your imagination, I mean their imagination!

Oh man! That one with the greenery on it is amazing. I would have a teepee in my yard for sure, if it didn't always rain around here. :)

Looove teepees in kids rooms and the cat toy one is great too!

We have a neighbor who has a giant one in his back yard and it always makes me want to get one as well and add twinkly lights :)

I would love to have a large one here on our farm to escape to from time to time.

I've been wanting a tee pee for sooo long! And I'm totally getting the cat one, but I barely have room for her food and water fountain in our house, so I will (ahem, she will) have to wait ;) xo

The first one is perfection, I want one of these for summer days outside - I can lounge and read while the kids play, perfect!

This would be fantastic to have in the house! Funny thing is, I'll be showing off a teepee next week. :)

Are you kidding? I would TOTALLY put a teepee in my house if I had room for it! I love that yard teepee with the moss all over it, too.

kimbirdy August 25, 2011 at 3:15 PM

yeah, teepee's are so fun!! and really cute for any home or yard. in san francisco, one of my neighbors lived in a teepee. it was set up in a tiny lot between two rows of classic SF victorian houses. it was so funny! and definitely a favorite part of the neighborhood.

i would love to build a teepee in my boy/girl's room. that would be too cute.

Brandi August 26, 2011 at 1:36 PM

I would absolutely put a teepee in my backyard and stock it full of books. And maybe some chocolate too. White lights would be a must and a good lantern. Actually, I like this teepee covered in moss -- seems like it'd be very eco-friendly (and provide good camouflage).

I am lovin' the wigwam craze. they sell those little kitty teepees at Why Louisville! Go check it out.

Also worth note: About an hour from Louisville, near Mammoth cave, you'll find Wigwam Village, a 50's era drive-up motel where each room is an individual wigwam. It's so kitschy and goofy, but I love it there.

I love the outdoor teepees especially 5 with the sandpit in! A great way to keep the sun off little ones. I make indoor handmade teepees for little ones. They were inspired by my children and have iteractive moveable parts to encourage children to develop and learn through play. I would love to know what you think www.facebook.com/twinkleteepees
