Thursday's Randoms :: Wedding Edition

I loved my wedding hair - my friends Inna and Lauren worked so hard to perfect the messy chignon and Inna spent hours curling, curling and curling some more.  My hair was beautiful and I'm nothing but pleased with the way it looked.  But a year down the road, part of me wishes I had opted to wear it down with loose, flowy curls.  I almost always wear my hair down (except as of late with all this disgusting humidity) so it would have been a little truer to myself.  Oh well.  I can make my hair look like that any day :)

I am in love with the dusty hues of this beautiful bouquet!  It's rustic, it's modern and it's gorgeous.  Wrapped up in raffia or twine, it would make the perfect bridal bouquet, don't you think?

EmersonMade's silk flowers are versatile and gorgeous all at once!  While I opted for a real gardenia in my hair (at my florist's suggestion who told me I would smell great all day long with one in my hair) it might have been easier had I gone the silk route.  We ordered two gardenias because the oils in hair tend to make the flowers droopy a little faster than normal.  Again...oh well.  I enjoyed the smell all day long!

Having your wedding in the forest sounds pretty amazing to me.  Instead of handing out parasols to keep your guests shaded, you could hand out those new insect-repellent fans!  There is so much beauty in the forest - it's incredibly dramatic and would be quite captivating for the occasion.

I wouldn't change our honeymoon to Italy for anything in the world.  But I do have to say, that if you're planning your honeymoon for directly after your wedding (like the next day) then plan a honeymoon that is nothing but relaxing.  I can't even begin to describe the amount of tiredness that we had to deal with post-wedding.  All I wanted to do was sleep for days!  I'm so glad we waited a month to go on ours; it allowed us to fully bounce back, have an added something to look forward to once the wedding excitement passed and it helped us deal with the jetlag a little better (I am assuming).  I would LOVE to go to Bora Bora sometime in my life and lay on a towel just like the woman in the photo.

The photos are gorgeous - I love that long, flowy hair too. Totally agree about post-wedding tiredness. I ended up getting sick & spending half the time in bed - and not in a good way.

Gorgeous photos! I am yet to be a bride, or a fiance for that matter, but I can see myself being totally torn by all of the amazing wedding options out there!

Beautiful! I love wedding images. I just don't want to photograph them anymore or have one myself. Is that strange?

Planning my own wedding I love seeing what people would have done if they could redo their weddings, it gives me so much info!

I love bora bora, we are thinking about that for our honeymoon since we went to Italy after our graduation from college together!

everything in this post is spectacular! i love flowing waves, but i know when my day comes i will want it up to avoid frizzy crazyness. and the flower is so simple and precious. i would lvoe to go anywhere tropical too - and relx the whole time under white mosquito nets and on hammocks! mm!

All of the pictures are so beautiful! I love the picture of the outdoor wedding. My husband and I spent a few days recovering from our wedding before we embarked on our honeymoon to the Outer Banks, and it was a great decision! There's just so much to wrap up and deal with after the wedding is over.

That outdoor wedding image is absolutely dreamy. WOW. If I were to have another wedding with my husband I would want it to be outside with that type of feel.

I'm completely smitten with this-you made my morning with all this pretty! Nestldown is one of my favorite spots, and I can't resist loose, gorgeous hair (or Jose Villa photos)!

We left the Monday after our wedding for Hawaii & did nothing but relax! It was great & I wish I was still there!

I will definitely keep these in mind, especially about when to have the honeymoon. My friend was telling me the same thing, they left for their honeymoon the night after their wedding and they didn't enjoy it as much as they wanted to because for one they were adjusting to the time zone and second they needed more sleep. One month after the wedding is probably the best time for a honeymoon

I'm in no position to be talking about weddings or anything but I imagine when the time comes around, the internet would have a plethora of inspiration. There are so many beautiful images out there.

Italy is the perfect destination, honeymoon or otherwise!

That outdoor wedding is money! Really beautiful and so intimate. One of my best friends recently got married and had lakeside...it was so gorgeous and made for great pics!

Brandi August 6, 2011 at 4:38 PM

Such good advice! I really can't wait to get married. Of course, the guy I'm marrying will be the most important part, but I love any reason to get together with friends and throw a gorgeous party.

kimbirdy August 11, 2011 at 4:21 PM

haha, yes! we left on our honeymoon at midnight the night after our wedding. we intentionally gave ourselves a full day at home to clean up and pack after the wedding, and thought we were so smart. ha! the day before our wedding it suddenly dawned on us that we were leaving for the other side of the world {thailand} in two days and we hadn't given ANY thought to what we would need to bring or accomplish in order to get ready for that. everything worked out of course, but i would totally have loved a couple more days in between the two events for the sake of our sanity.

The Franglaise August 16, 2011 at 3:26 PM
