Brilliant!

Today I saw a wedding featured on 100 Layer Cake that was really touching.  The bride and groom, a poet and a philosopher, really created a special ceremony that makes me want to copy them entirely.  The bride wore blue (not wearing white is a tradition in her family) (not something I want to copy but it's cute nonetheless), they exchanged letters and small, symoblic gifts to one another before the ceremony and then had the sweetest, most heartfelt ceremony.  Here is my favorite part of it:

"We put a bottle of wine, two glasses and a set of love letters (written in secret and unshared) into a wooden crate and then sealed it with nails (each nail was hammered by a family member to show their commitment to supporting our marriage and then finally by us).  The crate is meant as an act of reassurance, a romantic gesture - if ever our relationship is in peril, we are to open the crate, drink the wine and read the letters before we make any decisions about our future."

I don't even know what to say about this.  It's...perfect.  I am in love with this idea.

The entire wedding was made possible by their super supportive family, who pitched in and helped clean and decorate the night before!  This is very inspiring and I'm going to immediately suggest doing something like this with David at our ceremony.

very cute, touching, and personal for them. I think that's what makes planning a wedding so much fun ~ finding the personal touches to make it yours and yours alone ~

What a cute story. It made me get all teary eyed! That's so great, I think everyone who's getting married should do this. Seriously! Such a good idea.
